Confederations Cup 2013 - Final: Brazil 3-0 Spain

Arbeloa's performance in the first half was the worst performance by a Spaniard I've seen in years  He should have been sent off, both Brazil goals were his fault and his display makes you wonder how on Earth he's in that Spanish team. Not that Azpili was better, third Brazil goal came from the right zone again, but if I was his teammate I would tie Arbeloa up naked to a tree and leave him in Brazil.

The other problem was that Spain have no striker, Torres can't score in big games and Villa isn't the player he was, while Soldado, Negredo and Llorente are good, but nothing more. Spain were toothless upfront. Formerly perfect Xavi has dropped his level, but that's something predictable, his best years are gone.

Brazil look really great at the moment, can't see a team stronger than them, great generation.

Anyways, Spain lost the Confed 2009 too. No indication of what will happen in the World Cup. This can be a good thing. At the moment I would still think Spain has higher chances of winning the World Cup next year than Barca winning the Champs League.

This was one game. Unlike barca's 7-0 2 leg aggregate clueless performance. They can bounce back. Either way, regardless of whether or not they win, they are still favorites.

England won and drew against them in the last 12 months (or even a shorter period of time), what do you make of that? ;)
Brazil exploded this tournament. I wouldn't read too deep into their friendly results earlier, they have proven themselves to be a lot stronger than that.

Germany 2006
Finished 3rd place :p

I wouldn't read too much into the Confed Cup, either, as it seems to be Brazil's tournament and they were riding on the wave of enthusiasm and the crowd support.

Next year, Italy and Spain will know what conditions to face better and they will adapt. Also, they won't have just two days in between plays so that they can rest up and refresh properly.

That being said: Brazil was great and if I had not been rooting for Spain, they would've been a delight to watch.

These friendlies are made to set up the team and to try different players, tactics and so. The USA have recently defeated Germany and so what?
Bulgaria held and outplayed Italy few months ago in the WCQ, and so what?
Brazil have a great list of young players and only 2-3 years ago they looked really bad.

I still think Spain are the favorites to win the WC. Or at least they are still far ahead of Brazil.

They were great, but don't overdo it.

Germany minus Bayern and Dortmund players, and a couple more. Which basically was Germany C or something. Brazil wasn't missing anyone.
Anyhoo... Friendlies are not representative, you are right. But then again, the Confed Cup isn't really the measure of all things either.

That was Germany's C-eleven with ter Stegen in goal which means that Germany will lose and lose badly ;) Have a look at the teams before making such claims - England drew with Brazil without Wilshere and Gerrard and won with both of them.

The crowd was chanting "the champion is back" after the 2-0. Also a lot of "olés", when Brazil was passing the ball among themselves.
