There are some players that have been more "complete" than Ronaldo besides Messi, definatly.
Xavi defined and changed the way a regista CM should play.
Zidane and Iniesta defined the AM role in their own ways.
Maldini might deserve to be up there aswell.
Buffon is a legend in goal, although my all time favorite is Schmeichel.

But hes definatly the best poacher.

Sometimes i do wonder if someone bribed every defender in the world when it comes to Ronaldo.
Why is it every damn team forgets how to defend when it comes to him?
Leaving him totally alone with acres of space in the goalarea, like wtf?
On the 0-1 goal 4 defenders went for Benzema and left Ronaldo unmarked...

Look at this shit, even Lord Bendtner would have scored a hattrick against a defence like that.
Why cant teams defend like that against us?

its because barca doesnt have enough movement in opposition box, messi is static and you have only suarez making those runs, and thats the main reason

Xavi is 2nd for me but Ronaldo is certainly third. I know Ronaldo is probably the greatest scorer of all time with Pele but Xavi and Messi revolutionized football, they are immortalized.

Messi is the record holder for scoring most goals in a season (73) & calender year (91). And Messi's career goal/game ratio is better than Cristiano.

He just has an incredible physique, height and knack for scoring goals. Him and Suarez are one of the best strikers right now but Suarez has an extra baggage and can be slow at times. I think that's what gives CR7 the edge over most strikers.

That being said this Madrid team is incredible, the way they controlled games and were very quick in transitioning needs to be given loads of credit. Ronaldo would find it hard to do it in Portugal and would depend on the team to buildup play and get the ball to him.

Madrid gives their all in CL under zidane. They look completely different here compared to league and its not just this season but last season also.

I think it also shows the strength of La Liga.. I’ve seen bottom half tables give Madrid better games than Juve and Paris did.. and that’s when Madrid we’re still in with a chance earlier on in the season.

La liga is overall the best league be it top clubs comparison amongst league or mediocre clubs. At this point even the epl fans know la liga is the best league

Madrid were simply terrible the first half of the season, lack of energy, momentum, while we are always the opoosite. Madrid won 10 out of their last 12 league games while we won only 8 out of the last 12 games. Yea we are "invincibles" but Madrid have gained more points and have been far more fresh and effective in the CL.

It's important to note key players of Madrid like Ronaldo, Marcelo, Kroos are always rested before every CL match. It's clear that they prioritise the CL so cant really blame them for cruising through the knockout stages like nothing.

Yet we have a limping Pique and Iniesta who plays a full 90 mins after international duties before CL. It wont be easy for us.

They are doing good in CL because of their style of play. In my opinion is as simple as that. Our philosophy is our greatest strength and weaknees. We have the bigest weapon in the world so to speak, when we play our top game we can beat badly anyone but teams like Real or Bayern have many weapons. Not one as strong as we but many...they can score from corners, crosses, counters, team play, long ball, short ball...this is always good in cup matches and CL is a cup competition at the end.
This is why I can start watching them play and opponent looks better, they still find a way to win while if we don't look good after first 10 minutes we all know we are in for the loooooong night.
But this is our style and obviously we are staying with it, even looking at our youth team we look for similar players. That's way I agree with a lot of what @BBZ is saying about diversity and difference in players.
But having said all that, people here (though I hate judging from "above" like know it all) are really negative. I mean if I was awaken from a coma yesterday and first went to read this forum I would have thought Barca is 5th or 6th in the league and out of CL.

They dont always rest Marcelo, Kroos, Modric and Ronaldo before CL games.

All four started v Sociedad before the first leg against PSG.

Ronaldo started against Getafe before the second leg vs PSG.

Modric just started the last league game before Juve.

Kroos, Marcelo, Varane were rested before the PSG second leg Ronaldo subbed off during Getafe.

Modric subbed off against Sociedad, rested Isco and Casemiro, didnt use Carvahal in PSG.

Yet for us, it's always Dembele who gets subbed or benched, yet Dembele rarely plays a full 90 for CL or even starts, usually always depending on Roberto, Pique and Iniesta. Yet Semedo comes back frm injury and still Roberto is playing despite playing full matches since Nelson's injury. It's just a recurring pattern and we always look more lethargic in the second half of the season.

Obviously they dont always rest the same 4 players, quite a number of them are rested if they were to start in the CL.We are also very commited to Copa.

But your opinion is yours, I cant change it and u cant change mine. If thats what u think fine by me.

Nothing I said was opinion.

You said they rest those four players before EVERY CL game and they dont.

Hopefully Barca are in position to rest players more going forward and that can start this weekend.

Of course Roberto started vs Sevilla he has just had two weeks without a game and he is the starting RB.
