I really do wonder what happens to his standing and legacy in football if this does turn out true. i mean, Maradona has had his image tarnished by his drug use but thatdoesn't even compare to something as horrific as ****

I saw earlier Nike are concerned about the allegations now so this is likely to snowball

Nike and EA now issuing statements.

The cracks are beginning to turn into fissures.

It might really be over for him. Damn.

One of the greatest players of all time going down like this. It's unbelievable.

I'm still not really convinced this will lead to anything greatly in the end. That is if it even goes to court in the first place. I guess this will now drag on for the next few months at least. Are the SPIEGEL documents, like the one that has him admitting she said No and Stop even legally obtained and can therefor be used in court? Without that it would just be his word against hers.

Nike and EA are just trying to stay clear of the whole thing since the story picked up so much traction. Call it political correctness if you like since it gives a bad for image them particularly since a large number of their consumers (EA) are young, impressionable kids. I’m sure they’re just waiting till everything cools down.

Ronaldo won’t be dropped by them unless the unthinkable happens and he is criminally convicted. Even with allegations, he’s far too valuable an asset to cut ties with just like that...well in Nike’s case anyway. EA usually only really give their stars a 3 year contract in recent times before moving to a fresh face. Messi had 3 years before being replaced etc. Presumably, Ronaldo only had another year left. With regards to Nike, his name makes 4 times more than any other athlete they have so they’d need to see him convicted to cut loose.

I would be hugely surprised if he had to serve time.

Only Mike Tyson served time for ****. Other celebrities have gotten away with it.

Where is Mayorga getting money to pay her lawyers?

Surely Ronaldos team a stall and wait this out unless charges are laid by the state of Nevada.

My one comment on this:

The accusation is very very credible and heavily corroborated. Damn.
Guys he did this. For real.

Hate him on the pitch but was always of the belief he was pretty ok off it.

I guess its not my only comment^ haha

A key piece of information for me is how reluctant she was to talk. Initial wouldnt disclose his name (because we all know how women who accuse famous men of assault are treated, and never believed), and when the story broke recently she wouldnt talk. The reporters etc had to get it out of her.

I don't just automatically believe every and any accusation, but this is a legit case that is corroborated heavily, and even has what is essentially a confession.
I hope he fucking goes down for this. Awful.
