Messi used to be GOATing in the CL.. remember the tie vs Mourinho/Ronaldos Madrid and that ridiculous goal? remember when we dicked United in 2 finals? Ronaldo was known as the flattrack bully scoring against Getafe at the weekend and stat padding back then, we used to laugh at his pettyness, even trying to steal goals off his own teammates. the tables have turned

we always used to say Messi would just transition into a midfielder/playmaker as he gets older but the sad truth is Messi has turned into an unmotivated lazy player and Ronaldo who we all said would lose his pace and physicality (which he thrives on) has gotten even more clutch with age when it matters most

Serie A is a mickey mouse league like Ligue 1 so winning a 8th or whatever title in a row isn't impressive BUT if he manages to make Juve, the eternal final bottlers, CL winners i think he'll go down as the greatest.

people who don't support a Spanish team don't give a rats ass about la liga, the CL is club footballs most important trophy and this guy could end up winning 4 in a row

Messi is and always will be the more talented, i think even Ronaldo fanboys acknowledge this fact but when it comes down to winning a football match, you have to give that to Ronaldo. I hate to say it as obviously Messi is one of my favourite players but tomorrow we will likely see the same uninterested, walking, poor work rate Messi who would rather fuck around with his bff Suarez (whos shit) instead of progressing past the quarter finals

Good post. Thing is you're not the best player if you don't step up in the biggest games. Ronaldo in the last 5 years has consistently done that more than Messi, with the exception of 2014-15.

Yeah he was lathering himself with oil for 2-3 CL games a season, while our selfish, unmotivated, lazy argentinian was dragging our asses to winning the leagues and cups some bitch ass whinny idiots in here take for granted.
Also didn't see the same bitches mentioning the shite performances in big finals Ronaldo had over the years. It's all glory for him while Messi takes all the blame for Barcelona's CL struggles.

In the past 5 years, he's had more incredible performances than 95% of all the players who have ever played in the CL combined.

Just an unbelievable player.

Stunning on so many levels.

I truly feel blessed to have witnessed a player like him. One of a kind.

This guy is overrated AF. That has always been my thought. I never doubted that he's one of the greatest players of his generation. But IMO he's never been an all time great.

Today, he proved to me that he's the greatest player of CL ever. He may not have Messi's or R9's or Zidane's talent, but he compensated it with perfect mentality and great athletics. That made him the most crucial player in this competition's history.

And he only convinced you today? After the milestones of last season when everyone thought he is finished?

Good on Cris, but in Juventus terms it changes nothing. Only adds a bit of fuel to their fire, but it’s not like they’re definitely going to steamroll the rest now. They can trip up just as easy as Barca. It is Allegri, no matter which way you think about it.

I don't think Juve are great but the Champions League is so open this year that they could actually do it. I'm confident that City would destroy them but any other tie would probably be around 50-50 or in their favor.

Pep still hasn't learned how to play away ties.

Allegri doesn't know how to attack.

Which is worse?

Pep's away losses have almost all come against teams that press hard and are dangerous on the counter, while Juve would just sit back or get pinned back by City's possession. Juve's only real attacking threat is to whip crosses in for Ronaldo and Mandzukic, which doesn't bode well in a tie when they would probably have 25-30% possession.
