More of a problem of the players judging by the lastest 2 penalties Juve got. Both the Atalanta and the Lazio ones were stonewall pens. This Lazio player acted like a keeper.

More of a Serie A problem with their interpretation of the handball rule than any grand conspiracy to favour Juve or CR7.

Immobile also has 12 penalty goals this season.
I find it weird that the media over there haven?t pressured the league to look into how they interpret the handball rule and made them do some changes. It?s not like the Italians are known for being a calm and mild mannered people, so why the fuck aren?t they causing a stir out of this unless all of them are Juve fans?

They aren't? Not that I follow, but they tend to be rather loud about problems and as long as rules are applied fairly then why would they complain? Not as if Juve or Lazio got more pens they shouldn't have than the rest from where I'm sitting. And they're as temperamental as they used to be over there. Conte got suspended for 5 yellows recently didn't he?

First Juve player to score 30 goals in Serie A in 68 years.
No juve player has actually scored more then 25 since 1961.

Also crazy that two players scores atleast 30 in the same season.

What makes it even more crazy is that they each have 12 goals from penalties.

Both broke Baggio's record of penalty goals in a single Serie A season (11) from the 97/98 season. The league in general is seeing more penalties this season. Think I read there have been 60 more pens awarded this season already then there were last.

The rules are being applied consistently though. If the ball hits the arm in the box it's a penalty no matter what. Pretty cut and dry in that respect. Whether that is a good thing or not is up for debate.

Yeah, that explains a lot.

Both him and Immobile with 12 penalties, only 18 non penalties. To think that either can win Golden boot over Lewan, lol.

Tinfoil hat time. Serie A know Ronaldo and his image bring tens of millions to the league so to have his profile pushed further he must score loads of goals. What sort of goals is he great at scoring? Pens. So rules are changed to make it so penalties are easily given for handballs. Also bush did 9/11 blah blah

How on earth is that a penalty. Defender literally turning away from the shot and was close to the edge of the box. Serie A creating their own handball rules or what

A question:

Have you personally ever had a Messi v CR7 debate IRL? I have a feeling it's an internet creation (both players rising to prominence exactly as internet connection became mainstream in the 2000s.

I remember as a kid I'd argue with my mates about RVN or Henry being a better striker. But surely actual adults don't have these conversations??

Never had this argument IRL.

I have a preference for Messi but they're both titans of the game and actual football fans can appreciate the qualities in both.

I also think the fanboys on both sides prop them up too much based on useless stats, in the big picture. I don't think either of them, even Messi, is undisputed GOAT. Messi is easily among the 3-4 GOAT tier players but not an out and out GOAT like Jordan. Football is probably too complex a sport for a single player to be an undisputed GOAT too.
