Agreed. Don't think he's that bad yet. 24 goals is 24 Serie A matches this season in front of that shambles of a Juventus "team" is still excellent output. If you were to only to read this forum though you'd get the impression he's already down to a Sunday league level.

You can read the Juventus forum too if you want some other perspective.

Doing fine.

That Juve team is a disaster.

We comaplon about Vidal Rakitic Busquets.

But imagine Messi having to play with Arthur Ramsey Rabbit as the midfield trio lol

The bits I’ve watched of him this season he’s clearly been the worse player on pitch for Juve. Feel like most of guys saying he’s still good are just looking at his goal stats and not watching him. As JohnN said, check Juve forums if you want an serious opinion.

Read the Juventus forum plenty. The reaction is much more mixed than that screenshot posted here would lead you to believe. Main problem folks seem to have with him is his wages. The more bitter users were under the laughable belief he would go there at an advanced age and single-handedly win them the CL despite their sporting department neglecting all other areas of their team. Being stingy with mostly mediocre patchwork recruitment was going to catch up to them eventually. They have an Arsenal-level squad apart from Cristiano.

Most of it is reactionary nonsense, little serious about it.

Ronaldo is still good but he needs good passes which he rarely gets from juve midfield. Its the same Ronaldo like 4 years ago when he scored 10 cl knockout goals against bayern, atletico and juve. Looking at these goals you see he got lots of great passes from his team mates, his overall play is average since 2014 but his off-ball movement is still on another level. So relax guys he will come back

Cristiano Ronaldo has scored 47% of the Juventus' goal this year, Winning around 16 points. Without him, the Bianconeri would be in 9th place in the standings with 40 points. [SportMediaset]

Without him they would have spent 100m+ + his wages on other forwards/midfielders/defenders to balance out the team. They'd be winning the league. Ronaldo has never been one for the league.

Eh not really. Those 100m would have gone for 2 players in the post-Neymar pre-covid market. Who would be scoring the goals? He is their only consistent goalscorer.

They'd be winning the league. Ronaldo has never been one for the league.

They have already won the league with him in the team for two years, this season is the first one they will not be able to do it.

It wasn't meant literally. It's a ridiculous point I made, same as saying without him they'd be 9th. I do believe investing in Ronaldo has overall hurt them though.

My roommate is a Juve fan and he is incredibly annoyed by Ronaldo's overall game involvement. He says the Ronaldo deal was a terrible deal for Juve and he's annoyed by the influx of Ronaldo fans into Juve forums who are now shitting on Juve in their attempt to take away the blame from Ronaldo. He's a Juve fan though and can clearly see that Ronaldo is a massive part of the problem, regardless of what all Ronaldo fans say.

Individually his stats are still very impressive.

I guess ultimately some Juve fans probably think they'd have been better off investing money in other areas of the team. Despite his personal success there, they are no better off with him than they were without him.

Most juve fans regret the deal as they think they should have invested the money into new midfield players instead of Ronaldo. They thought Ronaldo can win the Cl on his own which is impossible for any player.

As long as positioning allows him to get 6 shots in a game he will always score. Then you always have the many penalties and him never being injured.
So his syats will always be good. Problem is the salary and disadvantages his overall style and game contribution brings.
Unless you have an overall stacked team like Bayern at some points the disadvantages will outweigh the 30+ goal contribution.

Its a weird situation for Juve though. Since you get the feeling unless they get some quality midfielders they are worse of without Ronaldo.
The 2015-16 team destroys this one though.
