madrid fan here, quite impressed to see some peeps, NOT, tear down ronny and actually suggest he should win balon d or. Guy is a monster, i think he will never win it again though, his image is not good enough to get dem votes.
Just keeping it real. Some Barcelona fans, probably only Messi fans, sound quite ridiculous with these excuses that no one really wants to here. Plain and simple it is what it is.

When I wrote "season", I mean this year, I usually get confused about the period FIFA takes into account. I really don't know why Messi was nonimated this year, I don't believe he did enough to justify it so far.
even yaya toure is nominated.............

Ronaldo has had a better season so far, that's true (although it's only because of Messi's injuries), but he has nothing (and will have nothing) to show for it in 2013.

While Ronaldo had the better year with Messi's injuries, Messi is the who picked up silverware and it's his team who are top of La Liga.

Ronaldo's time at Madrid has been sensational and he will retire as one of the greatest goalscorers of all time, but having said that his silverware haul has been greatly under-whelming. 4 seasons, 1 league, 1 cup. This season he could finish with nothing.

Its beg's the question, should he have ever left United? Where would he be now if he stayed and how will Madrista's place him in history if he doesn't deliver La Decima.

He's been more consistent this year then Messi, mostly because of injuries but injuries are part of the game. So yeah he has a good chance of winning it this year.

If you don't have any trophies , you need to do something out of ordinary to win the Ballon d'or . Messi scored 91 goals in a year and assisted 33 goals . Ronaldo isn't even close to those numbers so no records broken and no silverware = no ballon d'or .

Not to mention 5 (?) of those masterpieces were penaldos.

I'm not taking goal scoring into account, because some of them were scored from "ghost penalties" whistled by terrible referees in La Liga, along with Messi being injured, so scoring comparision doesn't look like very fair, except for the last 4 matches. I'm talking about being interested and consistent, even against big clubs like FC Barcelona and the ones in UCL.

It is truly amazing that CR7 rarely gets injured, his work ethic, consistency, drive to success and perfection are second to none. At almost 29, he is still going strong, without any signs of fatigue and slowing down.

Am I far off to think CR7 will have a longer professional career than Messi will? Will he end up scoring more goals than Messi in the end?

I've said it before and ill say it again, ronaldo would do good to move to the middle, to get away from the left but hes too much of a moron. Most of his goals this season have come from situations in which playing as LF has been almost irrelevant, if u watch all his matches, hes not good enough to have him as a liability in the left, thats my gripe with ronaldo, such a talent, but such an idiot.

TBH i do think that cr7 might have a longer career but bcuz of age difference messi will score more goals in the end. Who knows.

Surely opinions will change once messi is back to full flight.

Anyways, id only count goals these two score in top clubs, if messi goes and scores a billion with newells i personally wouldnt count them. :tata1:

Ronaldo is an absolute monster and it would be foolish for anyone to deny it. He's ridiculously good and outperforming pretty much everyone else at the moment. Stunning player. I hope he makes it to the World Cup.

Yes, you are, I think. Playmakers last longer. When Messi loses his explosiveness and fails to get behind defenders as easily as now to score goals you can still put him behind a striker and even at 35 he will be able to ping passes around and create chances. His excellent first touch and game intelligence will also remain. Watch Maradona in 1994 when he was 34, fat and full of drugs and what happened to Argentina after he got suspended.

I see Messi without goals, acceleration, and dribbling as a Riquelme. When Ronaldo loses his explosiveness and pace I don't know what he'll do. His game revolves around movement and pace to run into space to get at the end of passes. If he can't lose his marker as easily as now that'll be it for him. He's very similar to Torres and Kaka in that respect who also relied on their explosiveness and once that was lost they struggled mightily.

exactly... I knew some one would say this... I felt the same when Madrid bought Bale for record transfer fee. Even CR7, a Ballon d'Or winner by then, had not truly gained himself much after moving to Madrid, would Bale really live upto the expectations? Utd were finalists a year after CR7 moved to Madrid too, could he have helped them, and hence himself, grab the CL? Could he have beaten Messi for a Ballon d'Or by winning the trophy with Utd?

I hope he does not deliver them the La Decima

Keep going - Your convo is great. I just want to mention an un related comment.
'Ronaldo really is Penaldo. I mean since the start of 2010-11 season 20.6% of his goals have been Penalty kicks.
