Tell me why he deserves it more than Messi?
Hmmm based on the last few months sure..... Leo was out, so it was his opportunity to make everyone believe he's the best player.
I don't want to take anything away from Ronaldo, but this award won't mean much because he didn't beat Leo when he was on the pitch, he beat Leo when he was off the pitch, whose fault is that? You could say its Leo's fault for not taking care of his body, but lets not kid ourselves... If Leo was 100% he'd be winning this award yet again, I'm basing that off of Leo's dominance over Ronaldo's over the past years.
Anyways this award has turned into a joke thanks to Ronaldo and Blatter and the media.

Nobody gave CR a shot in hell at winning this before Messi got injured. Not to mention the shenanigans that went on with blatter and the reopening. I would just laugh if he won. There is no question Messi had a better year even while plauged by injures. Ribery also should get the nod over CR.

I don't know. Ballon d'or is supposed to reward the best individual year, it has been criticized for doing just that ( cf 2010 ) so there should be no way that Ribéry wins it since he was nothing more than the (or one of the) best performer(s) in the team that won most.
Since Messi won over Sneijder there would be zero coherence for Ribéry to steal the prize now.
All of this is valid for Cristiano. His stats per game are very close to Messi's, he didn't win the liga or top its scoring charts but it is true he did play more. Both Messi and CR could justify winning it this year. The Blatter incident will negatively affect Ronaldo if he wins though

Hamstring injuries are the most common in footballers and sprinters. Once one has injured/strained hamstring, the muscle becomes so fragile that injury has a great chance of renewing. The last thing we as a fans want to witness is Messi being hamstring injury-prone
