Lets not forget he scored less goals this calendar year than 2012, hasn't broken any records of any sort, last lifted a trophy 15 months ago (His worst haul since leaving Sporting Lisbon) It genuinely was his least successful season how ever you measure it. But he scored 12 goals in 4 games when it 'counted' and that is all that matters apparently. It seems everything fell in to place for him at the right time.

And what does that tell you? That it's all relative. You don't even have to be good to win the ballon d'or, you just have to be better than everybody else.

Apparently Ronaldo promised to buy new cars for all RM physios if he wins the BdO, and he did. If it's true, it's a nice gesture, but it really shows how much more he values personal achievements over the club's. :lol:

I second that.
I also think that the match in which he scored a hattrick and put Portugal through over Sweden had tremendous effect on the votes going to his favor.

It was an undeserved trophy for Ronaldo as far as team achievements go no doubt, but for last 5 years him and Messi have been top 2 no question. They gave it to him out of pity which is why I think it's the last Ballon D'or he wins ever. Enjoy it Penaldo.
