Cristiano Ronaldo - v1

Calma, calma
Again with the Real/cr7 fanboy comments:facepalm:, no difference between him and Messi? I see no difference between current Ronaldo and Mario Gomez from the 2011/2012 season, scores a shitload of goals but his overall play is mediocre for 90 minutes.

Let's just say I'm bored of Messi nowadays. Right now, I'm fanboying on Ronaldo and Suarez. Soon, I will move on to some other players :xavi: Still, I mean what I say almost all the time. Almost.

No way. Despite those things that we criticize Messi for, he is still a lot more involved in the game play than Ronaldo, whose constant running and giving-it-all attitude, albeit praise-worthy, is have a dwindling impact on Real Madrid's performance and game outcome/result despite his goals.

Getting more touches in a team that routinely has 70%+ possession is not that big of an achievement, especially if your role asks for it. How much is Messi's "involvement in game play" impacting Barcelona's games and performance? As far as I know, Barca have dropped 10 points out of a possible 21 since his return.

do you watch football footy fan???????

yes he scored the goal for a draw, but he was stoppable for the whole game...

one chance??? again, two brilliant free kick distances, nothing. one 100% header nothing...

you should consult a philologist, your words are just wrong :)

I think you need to consult an optometrist.

One chance? Ronaldo actually had quite a few chances today. His backheel which was really neat that was blocked by Courtois, and there was a header that he could have scored but headed wayward, and then you have those two FKs that hit the wall.

And I personally failed to see how brilliant that equalizer was. A pretty easy goal in my opinion.

Since when are free kicks considered chances? Tell me about the last time Messi or Xavi's free kicks were ever considered as a clear chance. I don't know about the back heel, maybe my stream cut it off but he made that header all by himself with that awesome leap. Not like he was left unmarked. His only other chance was the goal, and I don't understand how you find that easy. Try to hit it with such power and accuracy on the turn and let me know how you fared.

What is there more to do?!

The situation is similar to how you get marked in university. Doing what is required of you, especially that consistently, would give you an A. To get an A+, you go above and beyond what is required of you. Watch Suarez and you'll know what I'm talking about. I'm not saying Suarez can do to this consistently for seasons like Messi had done but it's still valid for this season.

Messi 3-4 years ago was an A++. Ronaldo has always just been a statistical marvel, though he tends to score beauties time and again, which kind of sucked for him because he couldn't beat Messi even at the numbers game. Nowadays, not only have the numbers equalized a bit, but Messi's influence is also increasingly only showing through his output of goals and assists. I'm not saying he can't get back to what he was like, I'm only reporting what I see on the pitch this season.

Suarez I understand, what is special about Ibra other than scoring?

This is a joke, right? Short version; Everything. Pretty much everything is special.

Exaggerated but yes. The gap between the two is not that big anymore.

Not so much in the last several games, but I thought back in January and early February, Messi was creating a lot of chances for the team, my impression is most of his 8 assists had to do with actually creating, finding a teammate in open space (instead of Ronaldo's which normally involves passing to someone in front of the goal), not to mention those that did not result in goals.

I'm not sure this ball boy was intentionally wasting time at first, it seems he got up as soon as Ronaldo turned towards him and angrily gestured

Ronaldo is just another goalscorer. Pele is right about one thing after all. Fine all round player, lacks the vision though. Very consistent, thats good, cant say the same about messi these days. After all, Ronaldo is lucky to play while messi play, because he dosent deserve the comparison. But right now, with messi beeing lazy, they are pretty close.

Best midfielder around
At home against Cameroon playing for Portugal where he is the only real goal threat and the whole team feeds him. I wouldn't even have been impressed nor surprised if he scored 5 goals tonight. You can't compare him and Messi when you look at their roles for their NT's. Messi has this Fabregas/Silva role when he plays for Argentina, plays as an attacking midfielder, most assists, but also a few goals. Ronaldo is just goals, much of the time delivered on a silver plate. I also like Messi's movement much more when he plays for Argentina. Just proves that all that walking is because of tactics and Tata, not because of Messi.

When Messi scores a hat trick against Brazil, it's because it's a 'friendly'. Then Penaldo comes and scores 2 tap ins against Cameroon and he's the best ever. Lmao.
