Well, Ronaldo played many of his games as a winger, when he actually was a winger, back at United. I guess the same can be said for Messi in his first years. So i guess Messi have a bit of an edge.

I was hoping for one but Lucho's team is still in training wheels, add to that the experimentation with the youngsters and you get a fairly toothless side. Meanwhile Ronaldo is still in a team that plays to his strengths. His tap in yesterday was a carbon copy of so many of his goals in Madrid.
That's true, both players had games where the goals were not put on a plate for them. Ronaldo may hit Raul's tally first but Messi will be the first to 100 which Ronaldo may never hit, and Messi's final tally could stand for centuries.

I'm not so sure, I reckon he could be off to United next season and soon his pace will diminish making those precious tap ins much more difficult.
Having said that I'm sure he will make it a personal crusade to hit 100.
I dont believe the rumors, they had been there many times. Every year in fact, he didnt go back when Fergie still was there. Now they are in a mess, and not a top team atm, i dont see why he would go there. United would have to spend insane amounts of money on a 31 year old. I dont see it happening. Ultimately, i think he is happy here.

Lol are you just going to ignore everything else he won with Madrid? Seriously I love Messi like the next Barca fan but I highly doubt he'll get the award after CR won the Copa, CL( breaking the record), Super Cup, Pinichi, sharing the Golden Boot, and now off to a decent La Liga start.
Yes Messi made it to the World Cup final, but so did Xavi and Iniesta as well as Sneijder who also got a treble at Inter. None of them won it that year so why would Messi be any different?
I do think we will win the CL this year and now that the WC is over, Messi will be devoted to Barca completely this year and he'll win it again next season.

You just answered you own question, Sneijder won all that and didn't get the award which shows how little trophies have to do with it. Last season Ronaldo got it based on his final 2 months before voting. It's only September and there is plenty of football to play.

Ok goes both ways though. Right now Messi winning it would probably be based on his WC. Sucks to say this but CR outscored him in all facets last season.
The past 4 times Messi won it it was deserved where he and Barca were dominating. Last season was weird and Cristina bitched about not coming if he didn't win. So why wouldn't they give it to him the year he finally wins multiple trophies and outscoring Messi?
But again we have different views so I'll respect yours and keep it moving. I do like your optimistic views on Messi's chances though lol
