I think he's commenting on how insane that number is as well, rightfully so. Fantastic goalscorer but the extremity to which he statpads is ridiculous

Besides penalties, tap ins and the 7 shots per game, what also helps hugely is his drive to score and his fitness to go at 120% even at the last minute when the opponents morale is usually killed and everyone is tired or doesnt care, not even his teammates.
He has bagged a lot of goals in the last 15 minutes of a game because of this.

Scoring from penalty is not easy, a goal is goal

Of course, but that's not the point. 1/4 goals he scores is from a penalty in la liga... considering he hits about 40 a season just reflects the astonishing amount of penalties Madrid get.

We can then also assume that they get a ridiculous amount of free kicks and other calls that benefit both them and Ronaldo's stats.

In la liga I think they have a pretty similar conversion rate, although I know you were kidding anyway.

Yeah I was just kidding. Although I've read Ronaldo has a 92% conversion rate (46 in 50) at Madrid while Messi has 79% (43 in 54). Don't know if this is La Liga or all comps. Ronaldo's penalties are pretty much art nowadays. The power and placement on them are amazing. Also, I'm in love with his headers. Jump and placement are phenomenal. This will always be my favorite.

La Liga Ronaldo has 41/44. In that same period Messi has 22/25.

Ronaldo is certainly better from the spot, but having said that he missed 2 high pressure peno's in shootouts for Madrid and United.

I remember that goal very well, he certainly makes the most of his athletic abilities.

The Old Trafford game from the previous year is one of my favorite games of all time. Crushing 7-1 win with multiple golazos and entertainment topped off by De Rossi's beautiful backheel goal.

What everyone forgets to mention when it comes to penalties, in many cases it would have been a clear chance otherwise and that the pk taker might have created it by himself, with the help of the opposition of course. If all the penalties are correct is another discussion. But yeah, Ronaldo does have a very high amounts of penalties. Last season however, i think Messi and Ronaldo had just about equal amounts of penalties.

I followed United closesly that season, for me Ferguson's best side after his treble winning team in 99 which also happened to my first season following football as a kid. That was also right before Ronaldo became 'boring' for me.

I think he was more boring in the treble season than before, and his first season for Real he was actually quite entertaining, nice dribbling and overall play

Ronaldo certainly contributed to these chances by diving like he did today. Other than that, I don't remember Ronaldo himself creating that many legitimate PK chances. Let's face it, both us and you guys are trying to pad Messi and Ronaldo respetively with PK goals.

Ok, so a foul in the box never hinders a chance ? Goodbye.
