Cristiano Ronaldo - v1

Lol no, we were better in the cdr as well, the only time anyone actually trashed Atletico last season, but we had luck, no doubt.

Osasuna trashed them, 3-0, too. But yes, you were the better team in cups, while Atletico was better in the league. I don't dispute that. I just think La Liga is the most important title for all spanish teams. And the fact that you have 1 La Liga in the last 6 years doesn't really sound like a dominant Real Madrid team to me. I think the 2012 team of yours was better than the one from last year.

Not to mention that this was an Osasuna side that got relegated at the end of last season.

Atletico had a few games when exhaustion got the best of them. The fact that they won the title with that squad is hands down the biggest surprise in club football since Leverkusen's CL final from 2002.

I'd say the fact that Courtois was out against Osasuna was what cost them the game.

Madrid deserved to win the CL, but ultimately, luck played a consistent part in their triumph. Also, finnishing 3rd in the league, the most important competition, is a low point for them. They got 1/12 possible points against their two rivals in the league. So, when you say Madrid were better than Atletico last season you are talking about CL only, a 13 games competition where luck plays a big part, and neglecting La Liga, a 38 games competition where the best usually wins and luck evens out in the end. Madrid didn't made the double, League + CL, and that throws some doubt about who was the best spanish team last season: Real or Atletico. I think Atletico was.

Madrid has rarely coupled CL success with domestic success, though... I think they don't mind being average in the league if they win CL, especially last season with the long awaited 10th...

In my personal opinion, Atlético was the best team of Spain by a large margin, considering they didn't have nearly the same amount of money/talent/power than RM or us for that matter, they managed to win the league at Camp Nou and was two minutes shy of winning the CL...

I do not think Real Madrid were the best team in that year in particular, the league performances are surely something to count, no excuses. However it is difficult to assess since we took Atletico Madrid out of the Copa del Rey as well. I'd still lean towards Atletico because they showed most consistency, and they knocked Barcelona out of the CL, too.

Real Madrid had depth too which is what bothered me about losing the league.

Great header again, he is just so good in the air. Tbf he should have scored earlier, but good goalkeeping. Decent match, he was quiet most of the time, but briliant play setting up Nani.

I remember thinking that Versace jumper was awesome when I was a kid haha. Those boot leg jeans and slip ons are a fucking disgrace.

Cristiano Ronaldo has now scored 16 penalties in the league in the last 3 seasons, more than any other player across Europe's top 5 leagues.
