Cristiano Ronaldo - v1

I don't even care who scores what and who makes this and that assists. If we beat Real on the Bernabeu I'm gonna build myself a Messi shrine in my bedroom.

While we won both the cup and CL last season, what really will bother me for a long time is that we didnt manage to grab that precious 2nd place.

Sure, you guys have been waiting a while for the cl, 12 long years. But many regard the league as more important, as luck is not a part of it, but consistency. For instance, the 100 point league we won wasn't as sweet as it should be to me, as we failed to beat you guys in it.

We won those titles too my friend, not to long ago. The difference is that when we won it, we put the cherry on top by beating Madrid 6-2 on the Bernabeu and 5-0 on Camp Nou. You managed to make winning the CL look like an accident.

Lol don't jinx us man. Maybe I'm showing my age here, but I remember when Real beat us 5-0 in the 90s. Of course that was the season after we beat them with the same score.

But yes either way the season is young. I remember being optimistic about us last season and we all know how it turned out. Clasico wins mean nothing in the end if we don't actually use those points to win a trophy. We will be better this season though because we are hungrier. I predict we'll take both clasico as well as the league. We just need to be steady in the 2nd half.

Tbh they easily got past Schalke and Bayern.Only Dortmund and Atletico gave them a hard time.

Assists are great and all but how many touches does a player have to have. It is almost like CR taking so many shots to get a goal. How many times does a Messi pass becomes an assist. Also, you have to be somewhat lucky to get an assist. A great pass does not equal a goal it is up to the receiving end player. A goal is a goal, no matter how the guy gets it. For CR to put the team on his back and score goals is basically beating a team all on his own.

If CR is taking 7 shots per game to get his total to where it is now, then I want him to shoot more.

If Messi is only taking 4 shots and he is 2nd in scoring, shouldn't he be taking more shots. Assists are not a sure thing but a Messi goal should be a sure thing.

These reasons are why goals are the most important thing for attackers such as CR and Messi.

I don't really get what point you are trying to make. Messi isn't just our goalscorer, he's also our playmaker while Ronaldo's primary role is to score goals, hence why he takes so many shots.

For all Ronaldo's goals in Spain he only has 1 league title and Madrid currently trail by 4 points. I expect Barca to win the league and Ronaldo will remain on 1 league title, isn't it a bit odd that a player with that many goals isn't delivering more trophies?

Anyway good luck in the classico.

That isn´t down to 1 Player though.

Schalke was weak and that Bayern that Real played against lost 3-0 at home to Dortmund. Not that big of a deal. And they got superlucky against Dortmund (Lewa didn't play on the return leg and Mkhitaryan was missing with the empty net in front of him) and Atletico. They saved their season in min 92 from a corner, like Chelsea did in 2012 when Drogba scored the 1-1 goal on Allianz, also from a corner. Not a super dominant CL campaign IMO. Like Bayern had in 2013 or us in 2011.

That team they had in 99-00 was dominant. Won the CL in 98, then in 2000 3-0 in the final against Valencia. That was the best team in the world. Their team from last year wasn't even the best spanish team, losing to both rivals in the league.

True. We shared the domination. We also beat them 5-0 in the 90s. The discussion was about their last season, which turned from bad to "spectacular" after a random header from Ramos in the 92 min. of a final they were losing against a tired Atletico.

Bottom line is that CL is unpredictable, single moments can decide greatness or failure. One of the reason i love it, for me the CL is more important than the league, there is no better feeling than the hyhm before a match between two of the absolute best teams in the world face off. That is the later knockout stages, the group stages isnt anything special. Anyway, it is a cup, and sometimes you simply have days where everything goes your way, a bit of luck. You didnt need it in 2011, but in 2009 you needed it against Chelsea, Chelsea was as lucky as it gets against you in 2012. The best team doesnt always win.
