He played decently well in the wc, remember he had a clown for a manager, played better than cristiano did in this one. He also won the liga with 99 points and delivered some great cl performances. Id have given it to xavi btw.

If you measure performance only by goals scored, yes he flopped. If you look at how he actually played, he had a very good WC in 2010 and he played well overall.

I totally agree. People judge him without having seen him. btw he was in the short list of the 10 best players of the WC 2010 (Forlan won).
He played much better than WC 2014, assists, posts, dribbling. He missed only the goal.

That is true, my apologies. I forgot. The 2010 world cup he did well, flop is too harsh of a word but I was referring to the 2012 year when Real Madrid won the League, but Messi won the Ballon d'OR.
That year I figured Sniejder or Xavi would win it. One won the treble, and the other had a PHENOMENAL world cup.
?No player ever in history has managed to win the Ballon d'Or for a year in which he got knocked out from the World Cup group stage!

To be fair, Ronaldo deserve the Ballon d'Or. After all, he's been ridiculous all year apart from the World Cup where he was injured.
And before you come with counter-arguments like "but he played all matches for Portugal during the whole WC".
An injured Ronaldo is still miles ahead of any fully-fit individual in the Portugal squad. It would have been stupid to leave him out and he even made the decision himself to play as it's such a massive stage. As we saw, he still had moments of class and made an impact numerous of times which was great to watch!
