Dinorah (agent Alves): "Barça didn't talk with us. We guess it means they don't want to renew Dani. So we're looking at offers we got."

Dinorah (agent Alves): "Dani more likely to leave than to stay at this point? Yes. We're grateful to Barça but we need to do our job."

Nothing strange really. We've been known to move too slow with renewals except with Messi. It doesn't have to mean anything, particularly now that there's no sporting director.

Bartomeu better wake up from his election dreams. Only Montoya and douglas next season is the stuff nightmares are made of.

Not an end of the world if he does leave. This is his swansong anyway. Montoya, Bartra, Adriano can all cover RB for 3-4 months and then proper RB is signed next winter.

I agree. Although it would become our weakest position, those players can all play at right back as a temporary solution until January

Seems like he's back to his old form. Good passing, good defending, good pressing and amazing technique.

Not really back to his best, and he never will be as his physique isn't as good, but he's stepped up his game lately.

Like I already said once, he might be pretty decent stopgap at RCM position. He seems to be playing in that space more often today anyway. He is pretty good passer and has good understanding with Messi. Also while he's poor defender as right fullback for a CM he is actually pretty good. It should be at least tried before he leaves.

Because Montoya will stay, right?

True, but in this form he is still one of the best 5 RBs in the world. Easily. Can we buy one of the other 4? Probably not.

We can be out of la Liga by march. And usually, no great players are transferred in the winter. Bad idea to sell him. Plus that we would probably buy a worse RB than Alves. It's very hard to buy a fullback with Dani's abilities. Very hard.

Indeed.

Also it would be pretty difficult to find "proper" (Barca level) right fullback. There's massive shortage of them. There's Lahm from Bayern and after him there's huge gap in quality. There are lot more good left fullbacks, than right ones today.

Just offer him a 1-year extension and get Danilo from Porto when ban ends or in the summer of 2016 when his contract expires anyway.

Actually we have been renewing our top players too early .the younger ones were signed late(Bartra/Montoya/Munir/Adama etc) but players like Iniesta,Xavi,Busquets,Pique always signed extensions early
It is a clear sign for me that we don't want him back and tbh it might be the wise decision .we can't afford keep him while he is declining and in his 30's
As you said ,we can afford to let him go and play with Montoya/Adriano on the right side for the 1st 4 months of the next season and then get a new starting RB

He want 3 year deal ,if he was ready to sign 1 year extension we would have done it

Then we should offer him 2-year extension with reduced wages. If he doesn't accept let him go.

Alves will not accept for 1 year contract extension, he will probably demand for at least 2 years extension with the same salary. I think that is why board refusing to give him an extension, but we clearly don't have much choice. I would rather waste money on alves than having montoya as our starting RB.

If we are sure we can secure a RB signing in January ,I would take Montoya for 4 month than Alves for 2 years
