Daniel Alves

If we are sure we can secure a RB signing in January ,I would take Montoya for 4 month than Alves for 2 years

Yes, of course we can secure a RB in January. But all the good ones will be cup tied, we can't just throw the new RB in and think he will adapt without any pre-season and just walk straight into an CL match, Montoya is probably not good enough to play the 4 first months and than CL games (because the new RB, even if world class, WILL struggle in the beginning at Barca - just look at Suarez), Douglas will be our backup and so on so on... In other words, I disagree with you

According to sport, LE wants Dani to stay, Barto doesn't:

There is conflict within Barcelona. Dani Alves's contract ends in June and his future at the club is in serious doubt due to the board not wishing to renew his deal - even though he remains a key part of Luis Enrique's team.

Barça's boss bases his view purely on sporting criteria and, from that point of view, he sees the Brazilian performing well and displaying exemplary behaviour in training. On the pitch, he is showing the elements required as well: good on the ball, working hard and contributing in the final third.

Members of Lucho's coachin staff have said that Alves is "the player who trains best" and he is still in good shape physically speaking. Luis Enrique understands he's unable to sign players in tghe summer and has little confidence in Martin Montoya and Douglas, meaning the renewal of Alves should be a priority.

Lucho's idea, however, is not the same as the board's, headed by Josep Maria Bartomeu. They wanted to sell him last summer, but they didn't receive the right offer - but the president still feels Alves's cycle with the club has ended. They feel his wage demands are too high for a player who turns 32 in May.

If they want to sell him so bad then they should have gotten a replacement.

Notice how he raised his game now that renewal/transfer talk is here. Gotta make his negotiating position strong.

Give him a new fat paycheck and he'll return to old self. Only then we are stuck with him for godknows how long and you can forget about selling him. Noone wanted him even with expiring contract because that's how greedy he is.

Dani has been great for us but it's time to move on. And frankly, we should have done it 2 seasons ago.

Getting a replacement and being stuck with an overpaid Alves as a sub is still better than a season with Montoya or Douglas as our rb.

Bartomeu already said we can sign players in summer as long as they aren't registered in the squad .this means we can sign a RB and loan him either back to his club or to a new club with a condition not to play in CL ,it will be an odd deal but I think we can pull it
While yes new players may struggle at 1st but that doesn't mean we should be keeping the old declining ones

Agreed, he is only playing semi decent now to get contract from other clubs to either move or renegotiate his renewal with Barca. As soon as we renew, he will suck even more!

season 15/16 starts end of August. I think we can manage 4 months with Montoya or Bartra at RB position for 4 months until January transfer. Having a good RB signing for half season better than having Alves for a whole season.

There are many problems with that approach.

1. It is more difficult to convince teams to sell you the player during the season.
2. Good RBs will be all cup tied.
3. Even if not they'd require time to "fit in", develop chemistry with teammates, etc...
4. There are few good RBs on market. Some team (like Porto) will fleece us massively, if they know we are too desperate. Anyway the idea that some RB like Danilo comes here and without preseason he'll fit into the team better than Alves/Montoya is quite naive. We might go whole next season without proper RB, if Alves leaves.

We are not convincing teams to sell in Jan, we will buy them in the summer, loan them back and register them in Jan. It's not an ideal situation but it's not that complicated really especially with proper management and competent sporting director.

Preseason is way overrated really, you either fit right away in the team like Griezmann with Atleti or it might take you a whole season like Neymar with Barca

He doesn't play better because of contract talks. He plays better because the tactics have been adjusted to his strengths. He is occupying the half spaces instead of going wide for the overlap now. He is a better midfielder than winger.

If he gets sold Barca is winning 0 trophies next season. Such a crucial position, especially with Messi playing on the right now. You guys want Montoya or Douglas to combine with Messi? Bah GAWD.

Comparing fitting in at Atletico with Barca is like comparing two different sports almost. Atletico build a human wall as soon as they play any good team with 2-3 guys ready to counter (Griezmann being one of them). Barca press press press and can only get through with great 1vs1 (without loosing the ball time after time) or uberfast and complicated combinations, that takes time and an almost telepathic understanding with your teammates. Since we push everybody up except our 2 CB's and sometimes our LB, loosing the ball is costly, while Atletico has more than half the team behind the ball.

Anyway, signing a 2 year deal would be OK in book. We can't sign any new players next season and it WILL take time for the new RB to settle in. Meanwhile we'll have Montoya (IF he stays that is) and our main man Doug-ImsonervousImplayingforBarcaanddontknowwhattodo-las. We put ourselves into the position we're in, signing Alves up for 2 years is a little risky, but so is bringing in a new player. And besides, Alves has done so much for the club and still has it in him - I wouldn't write him off yet (just like some of you do with Iniesta, I'm 100% sure he'll come around too).

I would rather we play without RB at all or play someone out of position there than renew Alves. He's not even being anonymous anymore, he is actively dragging the team's performance down. Seldom flashes of brilliance here and there don't make up for that. Not to mention that he would demand inadequate salary.
