Darwin Núñez

I don't think Cavani ever looked impressive either though, and I see Nunez in the same kind of mold. A potentially high level Tier-2 striker who scores (and also misses alot), with glaring flaws that you sign because you can't get the Tier-1 guys.

In previous years with guys like Etoo, Suarez and False 9 Messi we never really needed to look at that level. But now we do, albeit not out of desperation as high scoring inverted wingers are also necessary for us, which we should prioritise in with Dembele and Adama leaving.

Have you actually watched him? keen to know if someone has actually watched him rather then just go by what other people say/ random twitter analysis.

fair enough then ill take your word for it, Although if he's a clinical finisher i wouldn't be totally against it as that's what we are severely lacking atm.

Will try to catch a couple of Benfica games if I can get some time for it.

He's a very polarizing prospect tbf. Scoured a few opinions of Benfica fans online about what they think about him and it's the same. They either love him or don't.

Just athletically he's incredible. He's very quick, he's strong, he's tall, but the question marks seem to be about his inconsistent technique and footballing IQ sometimes where he wanders to offside positions without being aware of it. This is also his first season where's scoring a lot of goals so question marks about whether he can sustain it and become a high volume goalscorer.

The few CL games I've watched of Benfica I thought he was quite impressive, but it's admittedly a very small sample size.

The paucity of good number nines is quite staggering. As far back as I can remember there were goal scorers in plenty. Nowadays it's different. A guy like Forlan in today's market would be worth 100 million plus.
