I must admit that I am pretty surprised by his recent development. Don't get me wrong, his talent was always obvious but during his spell in Valencia he lacked a lot of consistency and was very injury prone at the same time. Obviously not a good combination for a young player.

However since his move to City, if we exclude his difficult start, he has really impressed and one could easily argue that he has made the greatest progress of all players. Especially considering the amount of critics that claimed he would be unable to make it in the PL.

I never thought I would say this but if he manages to become more dangerous in front of goal then he could really pose a threat to Messi's and Cristiano's monopoly when it comes to Ballon d'Or and other personal awards. But for this to happen City obviously need to keep their current form ongoing which I have my doubts about as long as Mancini is in charge.

Too small and fragile for the EPL...

David Silva has been playing like this since Valencia , It annoys me how he has to go to England for people to realise how good he is , same applies to Mata as well.

He was a lot less consistent at Valencia. More injury prone too, which was the main reason why neither Barcelona nor Madrid wanted to go for him. Only City could afford the risk. But I think playing in England also suits him. He seems to thrive in the space that he's given in England. He even said that himself.

I think the fact that there is a more solid backline at City vis a vis Valencia has also helped Silva shine even more than in Spain.

The player couldn't get into Spain's starting XI because he wasn't playing for Barcelona or Real Madrid and they had a Spanish player in his position.

It's an unsaid truth, if you're spanish and a starter for Barca or Real the spot in the NT is yours.

Or maybe it's because Xavi and Iniesta are better than him?
