Playing Iniesta out wide is just absurd. Barcelona are good enough to get away with it in matches against 90% of teams in La Liga, but against better sides it just looks awkward, as Milan proved.

With how shabby and flat we looked against Milan, something different has to happen up front. We keep fielding the same players and expect a different outcome.

Villa now has 7 goals in La Liga putting him in the top 25 scorers in the league with only 757 minutes of playing time. The next closest player on the top 20 list has 1,100 minutes with many logging over 2,000 minutes at this point. Only Messi, Ronaldo, and Falco have a higher minutes per goal scored in all of LaLiga and they are all clearly the focal point of the offense while Villa is forced to be role player around Messi. I am way past the point of feeling that there is more at work here that the players on field performance. If the coaches have been basing their lineups purely on performance then benching Villa is lunacy.

It would seem an out of shape out of form Villa that has lost a step is still an elite striker would it not?
