I think all the negativity and flak he is getting is just absurd. He scored a vital goal in a very important game in which his new team were the underdogs. It was an absolute beauty of a goal. What is he supposed to do.. NOT celebrate?? Plus he has always been known for his epic celebrations. It is no disrespect to go crazy and celebrate a ridiculous goal when you score it. I think some of you are being a LITTLE oversensitive here.

As far the appeal for the red card. I must say it WAS a pretty clear-as-day yellow card by Busquets... it SHOULD have been a red. He no longer plays for Barcelona, he plays for Atletico and wants to win. How is it disrespect for him trying to get the proper call just the same as he would have done if he was with us? Lay off the guy.

Are u all kidding or what r u expecting? Grow up or stop being extremely naive. What the fuck. He has a new employer, they want to win the Super Copa, they are motivated as hell, do not have as much money as we have, do not have the same players, not the same resources, fighting for years to be oly third. He plays for such a team, scores a beauty, is keen to bring the cup home, of course he is going to want Busquets to be sent off! Indeed, Busquets was lucky there, because it was clearly a tactical foul. Why is that classless? If he would have dived in the box, getting a player of ours a red card, turned that penalty into s goal and celebrated like there's no tomorrow, than please call him classless, but not this way.

Yep. Some people seemingly can't remember Villa against Barca. I somehow disliked him because he was always a pain in the ass against Barca and was a bit a bitchy player too. Nothing surprising to me watching him being the same again tonight.

And it's not like he's been a Barca legend or something. He did his service here and with all its ups and downs it's over now. He has a new club now and I'm by no way his fanboy or keep him at such a high place not to expect him to react like this. It's just him, get over it guys.

WTF are you guys talking about? He had every right to celebrate, and I'm sure if he did that tackle (which was fully deserving of a second yellow) Xavi and Busquets and Alves would all crowd the ref shouting how he needs to get sent off. And that's perfectly OK! If it is red card worthy, why the hell should he be like "Well, I would, but it's my former teammate, so he can foul me all day long."

I like him as a footballer, he's such a great forward, but I don't get the comments here. Even if he was a legend here, he didn't do anything wrong.

Did he celebrate like that against Gijon or zaragoza?

Celebrating like you just scored a cl final goal against an old club is disrespectfull to many people.

He's in the wrong, because now many people treat football like a dramatic novel. Player move to another club = traitor, player scored vs ex team and celebrated = disrespect, player get well with other team mates = best friend, which actually it's all just a normal action in regular life. :tito:

I just dont like players cheering against their old clubs like that, or trying to screw over former team mates to get send off.
Even Ronaldo against United 6 months ago was how it should be imo.
Logically I got no problem with him playing for Atletico, wish him all the best.

I don't think he was cheering against his old club as much as cheering for his new club. Why hold back just because he used to play for us?
And I don't see how trying to get the correct call is "screwing" over" "former teammates". In a game like this, Barcelona is not his former team, they are his opponents, and in the game he treats them as such.
After the game they all hugged and laughed about the game and wished eachother well. I don't see how he did anything wrong, it's just the nature of competitive sports, especially high level sports.

Basically all of this. I had zero problems watching him celebrate. And Busquets should've been handed a second yellow.

Besides scoring a pretty goal, he held up the ball quite well too.
