He clearly said before the match that he will celebrate properly if he scores, so dunno why the people make such a big deal about his goal celeb

He's an amazing striker. End of story. His salary was just too high for us to keep and rotate with Sanchez and Pedro. Wish he would still be here but thats business. Atleti can thank us at the nou camp for the discount sale by losing.

Considering messi has a potentially serious injury we really could use villa now not as a wing but as a central striker. I feared this would happen.

This was not just a goal but a spectacular goal but one that will be one of the best this season.

Scored a great goal, but lets see if he can stay healthy for a full season before calling it the transfer steal of the summer.

Sensational outrage over Villa calling to the ref to give a card to Busi which was plainly deserved.
Pretty ironic coming from a presumed Barcelona fans, it has to be said.

This discussion. Nowhere else will you find such immature people as among football supporters.

This. What's there to gain from constantly disrespecting any player who leaves Barca? The guy was great for us, but he doesn't have any obligation to not call out our fouls or not support his own current team. As Vapor said, he was cheering for his new club rather than against his old one. Saying he's a mercenary or classless is over the top, it's not absolutely set in stone that you have to despise against any non-Barca player who isn't bowing down to the club.

the fact that he said that before the match means nothing. Players usually dont celebrate goals against former teams due to respect to their prior fans and Camp
nou always treated Villa in the best way possible, so Im not sure if disappointed but definitely I was surprised to see Villa celebrate like that just weeks after leaving us

The board and the coach treated him like crap, I would celebrate obnoxiously too if I was him.

You have the board and coach on one hand and the fans on the other. I'm not saying what he did was wrong but a little respect to the fans(its well known every cule loved him) cant hurt right? I mean it was the first game against us....meh I guess Im just sad our board sold him for peanuts and we could not see the best of him

Villa is past his prime. He lost his place, because he didnt have the legs anymore for tracking back and pressing when required. It was very evident last season. A few good games here and there doesn't change that fact.

Personally I find it ridiculous that some are lambasting Villa for celebrating and arguing for Busi getting sent off. As others have said already, if the shoe was on the other foot Barca players would be arguing for Villa to get sent off, and that's fine. And Villa plays for Atlético now, why is he not allowed to celebrate his first goal for his new team (a gorgeous golazo) playing in his home stadium as underdogs in the Super Cup?
