Chiellini? Did anybody see him play? He must be even slower than Pique. Hummels? I think he did renew his contract lately and Dortmung are definitely a team on the ascendency, he won't leave. Javi Martinez? Me like, I know he is a mid like Masche, but at least he is big and can head a ball.

they all seem to be the type of defenders that would fit Barca's style

A new LB doesn't have to be a superstar.Madrid bought Arbeloa and although he clearly isn't on the same level technically he gets the job done.Maybe Jose Enrique could be a good addition if price the price is right.

Why would Javi Martinez want to come to Barcelona when he's got a regular starting position at a club that will be competing in Europe (and a club from his home region -- Nafarroa is part of Euskal Herria)?

And would Barcelona be willing to exercise his buyout? It's very steep.

i wouldn't say Jordi Alba is a 'superstar' though.

he is a very good young left back who knows our system and would slot in instantly but not a 'superstar'. how many 'superstar' left backs are there in the world anyway?!

also we won't need him to support at set pieces if we have Piqué, Busquets & Hummels/Martínez.
