Barçapocalypse NOW!
well i understand, but this should have been done at the start of the season, there was no reason to stack one thousand midfielders in our squad, you have Rafinha,Denis,Sergio Roberto.. choose one of them, put faith in him and play him regularily. There is a very specific reason why Pep Guardiola always prefer smaller squads (i believe here he only had one substiture midfielder and that was Keita) .. even as a substitute, Keita played a lot because he was the ultimate replacement. Now we have a lot of midfielders, manager wants to make everyone happy , and the result is a psychotic rotation that hurt everybody and the team itself. Rakitic is a shadow of himself, Denis Rafinha are not motivated, because they know they are sitting in the bench the next game regardless of what they do. It's a mess. I don't beliveve Enrique is the right man for this job anymore.

Fair enough... Thanks for ellaborating...

We've had three midfielders for most of last season and we ran Busi, Iniesta and Raki to the ground before the most important part of the season started.

Not too much comments on his thread lately.

Invisible on the field, invisible on forums.

Our midfield gets bypassed so no wonder. Really hard for anyone to shine there.
That being said, I am happy he plays because there is hope for him to improve and he is benefiting from playing with other home boys Messi, Busi and Iniesta ...

Why not? I think he has way more potential to be a quality player than Gomes or Rafinha for example.

I don't know how to put it better in words, but he is starting to remind me of Halilovic, to some extent.
When I watch him closely, he looks as if he is amazing, as if he has tons of talent (mostly because of his movement, some similarity to Barca's Dna, good technique etc).
But as time passes, somehow it seems that he just "looks pleasing to an eye" and more or less nothing happens when he is on a field, plus he lacks in lots of other areas like defending, his positioning can be strange etc, plus he disappears so many times from matches for very long periods of time (you get a feeling that he is invisible both to teammates and opponents).

I am not trying to say that he has mental issues like Halil. No. Denis is normal in his head and has zero problems.

So, he "looks" shinier and better than Raki, Gomes, Arda, Rafinha, Roberto.
There is something in his first touch, technique, some magical passes.
There is something "visually appealing" about his movement and technique.
But when you dig deeper and analyze and watch his play deeper in 20-30 matches and his impact onto results and team's strength (when he is in the team and when he is not), he turns into a very average player compared to our other Cms.
In that sense he reminds me of Halilovic. Visually his movement and style looks "wooow".
But then you put him in a team, more or less nothing happens.
So, he "looks visually shinier" than our other Cms.
But other guys, even though less shiny, offer more impact when they actually play (even though they have weaker technique and less magical passes) but they are just able to impose themselves more and a team looks usually stronger and more compact when other Cms play.

Imo, a starting place in a team like Villareal is limit for his set of skills.
If we need to chose squad players (and who will stay here) out of Rafinha, Roberto and Denis (Arda and Raki will be gone, and Gomes is a strange fit currently), none of them is good enough to be a starter and Rafinha and Roberto have better all-round skills than Denis and seem to fit better into a Cm role in our system.

Even though, everything is possible in life and anyone can improve insanely even in older years, and he is here for only 6 months, he could improve when he learns our system better, but...

I haven't yet made up my mind on him. I think he could develop a lot if given consistent game time.

I really doubt he'll ever be anything more than a squad player. And I prefer rafinha and bob. I'd sell him in the summer.

Rafinha and Roberto both have an in-depth knowledge of the system going for them even if their execution may not be the best sometimes, which makes both a better fit not just for our midfield, but for our team in general. Denis could have had that too, but he was a total idiot and decided to play for Man City's academy instead of joining La Masia.

One things which I don't get is:
90% of our forum want to kill and burn Andre Gomes for "everything" he has done this year.
While Denis gets zero posts, nor good or bad.

If it is all about money and how we paid 35, 40 or 50M for Gomes?
Well then also, we paid 10-15M (1. a transfer fee to Man City, 2. a transfer fee this summer again, and up to 10M in additional fees, 3M already this season for 30-ish matches played, or for those who don't know, we have to pay 1 additional Million for each 10 matches he plays until he reaches 100 matches=10 Millions of additional fees) for Denis is the end, he is not cheap either.

So, if Gomes has ruined our team and cost us a lot of money, I don't get why this guy isn't guilty either to some extent?
Arda 40M
Gomes 40M
Denis (potentially) 15M
= we got nothing

Kroos 25M
Isco 30M
Kovacic 29M

3 last Barca's midfield transfers=95 Millions
3 Real's guys=84 Millions

Would you rather have Kroos, Isco and Kovacic curently in our rooster (for less money) or Gomes/Denis/Arda?

Good job by our Barto, Robert and Lucho.
Awesome vision for spotting young talents who will be a good fit for our team.
