I kinda start to like him again. Last season I convinced myself that he is shit because Lucho just straight up benched him and didn't even use him on the bench, I though he was very bad in training and Gomes was better, but lets be real not even in basketball training Gomes can be better than him. Today it seemed like he actually has a head on his shoulders, good 1-2 with Messi, was actually interesting to see.

This analysis stuns me. I always wanted him and Gomez to be given more chance in a good system. But he has been pure shit today. Not even a single good cross, pass, first touch, off the ball movement and timely run.

He was much better than Deulofeu, didn't lose the ball, the way he masks his passes reminds of Iniesta, did some good cross to Pique, would have been a goal if he wasn't so selfish, and he barely played like 15min today.
We didn't watch the same match. All of his first touches and runs were perfect. No surprise that Messi combined more with Denis on the field. Because he finally had a good technical point of reference.

Sorry, I didn't watch the last 5 mins of the game. Might be that he had shown all the good qualities that you both mentioned in the last 5 mins of the match. But I was very angry at his play for the first 10 minutes.
Last season the way he conducts the ball showed glimpses of Iniesta's characteristics. That's why I wanted him and Gomez (who impressed a lot in the very rare matches where Lucho gave importance to positional play and caused some football commentators to draw comparison with Xavi) to be given more chance to play in a Total Football variant system. But with Valverde I don't fear it might not happen.

But I think Deulofeu was impressive today. Best Barca player in the first half. His touches, dribbles and explosive runs were class. Might be he has to improve in his link up play.

Showed far more than Paco and Deu did the entire match in 30 minutes. He should be the go to guy at LW coming off the bench or in the case we decide to play with a 4-2-3-1 formation.

I really wonder what universe you guys are living in to even consider comparing Deu and Denis in this game.
Deu started against a full team of fresh players who were fighting tooth and nail to win the game and he still constantly put pressure on their defense and gave them an extra man to constantly be worried about. Comparing that to Denis playing 15 minutes against a team that's already tired out and playing a game they know they've already lost is ludicrous.
If there's one thing Valverde has shown that we lacked with Lucho, is that he picks his players based on their performances in training and in games. There's probably a reason why Deulofeu is starting and Denis isn't, and it's not because Valverde is stupid.

Roberto at RB. Vidal at RW. Semedo benched. Valverde hasn't shown anything yet to consider he is better than Lucho. We will wait and see. Denis deserves a chance but he never will don't know why. At least if he starts few matches and performs shit then i will be convinced he is not good enough. Whenever he plays he has good chemistry with Messi and others. Now that we are more interested in keeping possession he could be useful and Messi could use him well in his passing plays.

Arda hasn't played a single minute since pre-season and Gomes hasn't set foot on the pitch in either of our two official games this season, and Paco also found himself benched in favor of Vidal after the casper showing he had last week.

Starting? My man he's 2nd backup. Our starting lineup will be Messi, Suarez, Dembele in some form, with Deulofeu being the clear first backup.
