that would be the pep who promoted busquets and pedro from the youth academy, both of whom have come from nowhere to be absolute top players in a matter of two seasons?

or picking up maxwell for 4m, who has turned out to be exactly what we needed in a backup LB?

or y'know, signing piqué, who's now one of the best CB's in the world?

yeah, pep can't spot talent/see who'll fit barca.

this "pep is a bad spotter of talent" malarky is all about gleb and chygrynskiy, basically. pep asked for both players and neither delivered (although I am sure there is more to come from chygrynskiy). the other bad signings (caceres, henrique, keirrison) have nothing to do with pep and all to do with laporta and his shady dealings.

he's got more right than wrong, to be honest.
Promoting player who he coached for an entire year isn't talent spotting , it's giving a chance who ever discovered them was the talent spotter Meta .
And i still wonder how can u say Pique is his but Caceres isn't , Maxwell is his but Henrique isn't ...
it's a paradox when cule's try to talk about Pep , Txiki is the guy to blame for any wrong doings
Pep take full responsibility for the choice of signing in the last 2 years , i think he made it clear from day one who wear the pants when he slagged Dinho, Eto'o on his first few days as a new manager

txiki didn't sign anyone. he's not good at his job but I think the real culprit behind our shady south american signings was laporta. he probably made a lot of money out of it, somehow.

and I say henrique wasn't pep's, keirrison wasn't, etc. because he never used them nor showed any intention to use them. they came in and were immediately loaned out to teams. whenever pep was asked about them he would always give a response which suggested he had no idea why the fuck barca had signed the players. those two 100% weren't pep's players.

and I say caceres wasn't pep's signing because unlike all our other pep signings in that window (piqué, gleb, keita) pep didn't speak of him, didn't justify his signing, and then he just never used him either. like you say, pep is the boss, the one in charge, and so the players forced on him were either shifted out or not used.

it's funny, really. we've had two expensive (and one cheap) young defenders come into the club since pep took over. the cheap one is now one of the best defenders in the world and the two expensive ones were both talented but limited players who, if you combined them, would probably be world-class.

chysus has turned out to be a flop because we're selling him, to be honest. had we persevered and given the guy more time I'm sure he would have gotten better and better. he was signed as a project and to give up on the project after only one year is baffling to me. but I trust pep, and to only make a loss of 10m is impressive, so, we'll see.

yeah but given the "Pep did sign Shag -miss-key " and Pep "Didn't play him " blow the whole "if he didn't play him it wasn't his signing " out of the water , don't you think ?
i mean if we gave the excuse for those loaned out at once that would leave Hleb,Caceres..etc

regarding the value for money no doubt Pique was a master stroke it's usually stuff like this that makes u go crazy at times
Arbeloa was similar for us , Higuain..etc while Kaka and Benz awful

I think you'll find pep played chygrynskiy a fair amount. especially in that mystical first half of the season that everyone seems to have forgotten about.

he stopped playing him after he got booed in the copa game vs. sevilla in january, which is totally justifiable as you can't play someone who's being booed by his own fans.

they both had their chance. well, gleb certainly did.

gleb failed on the pitch and caceres failed on the training ground (as that excellent video shows, I dunno where it is though). I mean you remember our injury crisis and STILL pep wouldn't play caceres.

you signing higuain was like when united signed CR. not exactly cheap (£11m and €13m) but proven to be excellent business as the players kicked on to become real world-class stars.

the arbeloa deal was brilliant for you guys, especially as if josé is smart he will use arbeloa as a RB (he is SO the spanish paulo ferreira) and turn ramos into the new improved puyol at CB. piqué/ramos would be such a beastly CB pairing it would almost be unfair to opponents.

And wasn't Caceres an alternative to Garay?

BTW, tb reporting that Cheesuz confirmed the move back to Shakhtar on Ukrainian radio

Improvin' Perfection!!
Trust me i always said Txiki is an idiot and i laughed so hard from Albertini deal to Sexy Lopez and those who know me from the other forum know i rate 3 players in the 90's generation Hierro,Lucho & Pep .
now that's out of the way ,as much as i laughed on some of deals Txiki made anyone who know a little about Pep as a character and his obsession of being in control with everything (which makes him the great manager he is cause he care for the smallest details ) would laugh at the suggestion the Txiki dared to get a player who he can't use for the Champions league without the total consent and approval of Pep
I wouldn't be surprised if Txiki called Pep before his inked the transfer papers to get his final ok as well

Gio you are just twisting the words... Pep asks for a signing(demands) and Txiki delivers!! Why would you think he had any say in the financial aspects of transfers!?
let's see
Txiki - hey Pep, you've asked for Chyga... well I got his sig!
Pep - Wow! Nice!! How much did he cost?
Txiki - doesn't matter, mind your own business

Now if Pep went on to say "if he cost much then let's just drop the deal" he would look so stupid!! It wasn't his job(going into the financial aspects of a transfer and he wouldn't even bother to do so)... the exact reason why the presidential candidates( or is it only Sandro?) promised to remove the concept of sporting director and let Pep do all the transfer activity!!

If this is to arrange funds for Cesc's transfer... it would be such a shame for both the club & Pep

whoa...what a great way to start a day.
i wake up in the morning and see chiggy gone..haha
so i think during the course of the season, pep realized that chiggy and ibra were bad signings.
oh wait, chiggy wants to return one day? its fine with me, as long as you improve and give us back the 10mill that we lost!!! :p

meta, if chiggy was really a project signing, then i must say that its a very risky high cost project.

and i think k9, henrique were txiki's signings. not laporta as he leaves all the players transfers to pep and txiki.

If we consider all the information to hand it's impossible to deny that Chygone was a Pep signing, so the manager has to take the blame on this one. Even so it's hardly a scandal, even the best managers have a list of expensibe mistakes behind them, this just happens to be Pep's first. K9 was most certainly a Txiki signing, Zlatan was Pep's 2nd or 3rd choice because he wanted Villa but Valencia were being mardy tarts. Zlatan didn't live up to expectations last season but showed enough promise to earn the right to be judged on what he brings to us this coming year after a full pre-season and 12 months of experience at Camp Nou
