Oh look, Pep also thinks he was rubbish.
Make no mistake, Sandro wouldn't sell if Pep hadn't gave the nod.

Damn, we almost got away with it if it wasnt for those pesky Madridistas!

:D we keep each other in check
we scratch your back and you scratch our back

Oh and yes Meta it's very true by your OWN WORDS in this thread when i questioned the logic behind paying 25 Mil for a cup tied player :)
I think only Bojan and El Tren warned about it back than

Indeed after all Sandro wanted to even make Pep the director of football , that move (and Ibra as well ) has Pep seal of approval on it
although my sick mind thinks Laporta wanted to sell Ibra quickly before they introduce the accounts and the 124 Million extra debt becomes a public knowledge

I said I trusted pep, and that if he felt the player could work at barca then we had to pay what we had to pay.

I also admitted, several times, that we had tremendously overpaid for him. just because I could explain WHY we had overpaid, doesn't mean I agreed with it.

he was not, nor will he ever be, worth €25m. and I never said otherwise. so I don't know where you're coming from there.

I'm talking about your "Pep choice " not the price Meta , i know you said it's a bit more but you also splashed " it's Pep signing "

Oh don't u dare throw this on Txiki , you lot already pulled that same stunt the year before it to make Pep a flawless angle

refer back to the thread and all of you said Pep wanted him even if he was cup tied and that's "Pep choice " unlike Henrique,Caceres...etc that u all blamed on Txiki even when Pep was in charge

I already said they both deserve blame...Pep for pushing so hard for Cheesuz if they were going to cut & run after one season and little playing time...Txiki, however, blew the financial aspect of it as well as being cup tied

I think the guy from Ukraine warned about his speed but noone really paid much attention. Pep made a mistake there but it's ok. He is young and it's a learning process and we got away with it as Milito sprang from the dead.

yeah, and it remains so.

I can see why he wanted him, for sure. dude has mad talent. and I think given more time to integrate he could be the future of our defence with piqué.

but maybe I'm wrong, I don't see him in training and such.

anyway I can also see why he'd get rid of him, partially at least. the crowd booed him last season, they didn't boo anyone else (even ibra... they chanted for ibra when he was at his lowest) and if the camp nou has turned on him it becomes hard to get him minutes which makes it hard for him to improve which makes him a fairly useless and expensive project.

now, I say partially because unless fontas/muniesa is read for the first team or we're going to recall botia (lol) then we're short one CB for next season.

Txiki could be blamed for not getting it less but i believe with Pep winning the treble and being the Alpha & Omega in Barcelona he was consulted before the deal went through regarding the price and his cup tied situation
i think after this time we all know that Pep is a control freak and who would want to piss a treble winning coach ?

that's not how you use the term sour grapes.

that's not even the incorrect popular use of it (to express bitterness).

and I don't hate when I have to eat my own words. if I'm wrong I'll happily admit it.

look it will be back to a debate we once head , just because you are an awesome manager doesn't mean you have the scouting talent , two different aspects completely .
now if you look @ the signings last summer which all of you contributed to Pep and clarified his name from the previous season flops you will see the following
Shag-miss-key = back to his club for a fee rumored between 12-15
K9 = no one is able to get rid of him flopped in Benfica, flopped in Fiorentina ..
Ibra = looking for a club to pay a good fee for him and already Villa is bought

conclusion Pep is an awesome top 5 manager but when it comes to judging talent he falls a little short so next time maybe "Pep knows better " isn't really a valid thing to say

Drawing too many conclusions there with little evidence really to attribute much to Pep on the financial particulars...What is known is that the player came at the same price Shakhtar initially demanded for him and remained cup tied...Those are aspects that fall under the umbrella of Txiki...He didn't get a good price and his failure to secure the proper deal early just resulted in him getting the same price without him being available for Champions League
