He did. But this situation of us having VdB and Havertz lined up pre-pandemic implies we had more than just James and Ceballos out the door in midfield and that player (or players) decided to stay. In light of neither of the two above signing Zizou asked for Odegaard return, which is a great happenstance. But no idea who else would be going.

Again, this is pre-pandemic where no losses needed to be cut and still we had two CMs/AMs slated to join, one to replace James and add depth, the other to presumably replace someone else.

Fede breakthrough happened autumn till Jan. Van de Beek agent says deal was done in March, so probably not really to do with him here. If something was up in summer 2019, maybe.

Probably not the right guy for Barca or simply not good enough. Koeman knows him through and through, must be a reason why we are not hearing rumours of him wanting get van de Beek to Barca.

Didn't he want him last year but we couldn't afford him so he went to United? There are no rumours now because he's just recently signed with MU but if they'll put him on the market we could again be in for him. Especially if he'll be available at a discount price or on loan as I've said.

Or we could just make a straight swap for Coutinho, lol. Even if he wouldn't make it here Donny would be much easier to offload in a year or two than Cou will ever be.
