Douglas Pereira dos Santos

So I happened to come across an article saying we reached an agreement to sell Douglas (and for real money, at that). Right below that, I saw another article with the headline "Douglas rejects Cruzeiro". I positively lost it at this point, laughing my head off at work (people thought I'd gone crazy). Funniest part is, has nothing to do with football whatsoever

While all this is happening, his agent calling him to tell him of the offer and him telling them to piss off - I'm picturing Douglas in a hammock on a beach, eating a cheeseburger and a waffle, sipping on a mojito and wearing Thug Life glasses.

Well, then they obvioulsy don't want to win anything. :douglas:

Anyway, it was expected he'd want to stay in Spain to get passport and then have easier way to go to another European team next year. Most teams probably don't want to waste one of their non-EU spots for a player like him, if he gets EU status then I think there will be more midtable teams (from leagues like Serie A, Ligue 1, BL, Primeira or Eredivisie) interested in him. Problem is, there is apparently no La Liga team interested in him right now (even if we'd pay half of his wages during loan which we'll have to do if he goes to some smaller club) because of his non-EU status so I won't be surprised if he stays next season.

He needs to pull his shit together tho. 38 minutes per trophy is shit by his standards. We believe in you, #LordDouglas

With Vidal really being a winger and Roberto really being a CM, Douglas is the only actual RB on the team.

Just let that sink in for a moment.

No club, inside or outside Spain, has asked Douglas to join them, even though Barcelona are trying to let him go for free. [Sport]

The guy is getting paid 50k a week for doing nothing. His salary is better than many fortune 500 CEOs and his contract run till 2019. Why would he want to change this?

We had an agreement for 2M with Cruzeiro .he wants to stay in Spain to get Spanish Citizenship so he rejected such a move.

If I was Bartomeu I would terminate his contract and say GTFO.

On what grounds?

You seem to be forgetting that the point of a contract is not only to secure the player for the club, it's just as much to secure the club for the player. Douglas has a valid contract signed by FCB and the club is obligated to keep him and keep paying him through the remainder of his contract, unless both parties agree on a sale or a contract termination. Neither of them can terminate the contract on their own.

I think his individual 2016/17 season is getting clear. He won't transfer out of Spain because he wants citizenship, no domestic club wants him so the board will try to force his exit via leaving him unregistered and check up on how he's holding up during the next transfer window. There's no way he'll sit this one out till 2019 or he is the next Andy Kaufman and I will drive to Barcelona to present him with some sort of a lifetime achievement Performance Art award in person.

Segunda teams can't afford his wages.

I think the main problem is clubs don't want to use one of their three non-EU spots for a player like him. If/When he gets spanish passport in January there will be more interest in him.
