I like the player but he really is a gamble, there's no certainty he will make the jump to elite level - he definitely comes with risks...He's an athlete with great attributes to be just the sort of defender we could use but he's not the defensive stalwart we should be prioritizing

Any player is a gamble but if you look at it as "worst case scenario", Mangala won't cost a boat load and at worst he should be an upgrade from a DM at CB.
But he has all the basics that we could use on our backline. Not to mention he is actually a CB lol

Well ,the last time we bought from them we got Deco for 20M(14 + Quaresma who was valued 6M back then ) which was a bargain
May be when it come to negotiating with Porto we are there Kryptonite

Seriously though ,I think we have to realize that with billionaires funded teams Monaco/PSG/Chelsea/City and other Russian clubs,in addition to teams like Bayern &RM ,the market is inflated ,we can keep saying that every available CB his teams are asking us to overpay ,but the fact it is just the prices has been raised by those reach club ,we have to adapt and accept this fact and realize the unfortunate fact that we will end up overpaying anyway ,now we have to choose the best option we can get b4 the other teams buy him already
