This would be my team - on current form and class - to play the opening game at least.
--------------------------------------Hart--------------------------------------
--------Clyne------------Jagielka-----------Cahill-----------------Baines--------
--------------------------------Carrick----------------------------------------------
---------------------Henderson-----------Gerrard---------------------------------
----------------------------------Rooney--------------------------------------------
--------------------Welbeck-----------------Sturridge------------------------------
That would be my line up. I am not a fan of Hart and I would prefer Frazer Forster but being realistic that won't happen so Hart will play. Johnson has had an appalling lack of form last few months and does not warrant to start. Kyle Walker is so shit and lacks intelligence that he wouldn't even be in my squad but because he is fast and plays for a London club he'll be on the plane. But my pick and who won't be going to Brazil, but should be is Nathanial Clyne. He has been consistently superb for Southampton this season and deserves to be in the squad at least. The rest of the back 4 is self explanatory because Hodgson won't change the central defenders and Baines is going to start I am 80% sure of it. Other 20% says he bows down to media pressure in playing Cole.
For me the midfield is easy. Carrick and Henderson have been the two most consistent english midfielders in the league this season and Gerrard is captain and a big time player so should and will play.
I'd have Rooney as the AM and not as a striker as its where he is best. I'd then have Welbeck and Sturridge up front. Welbeck is this decades Heskey - whether man u fans want to accept it or not its fact - he is excellent at helping out others and his speed and physicality are assets that england need and should use. Then Sturridge alongside him with his speed, movement and finishing.
