Yeah most people wanted it, i would like him to stay even if we did or did not get a defender. Cause actually even if we buy one we will continue with the unreliable Pique. Abidal would have a secure place there and the other center back obviously would have a place to push Pique on the bench and make him work for his place, which is not actually guarantee but obviously he would be benched. It's just about that right now that is highly likely we won't get a centerback, we don't have any reliable in our team.

Where were all of you when this failure to renew was being publicized?...I felt I was one of the few critical of the move

We trusted the medicaland coaching staff that said that he was unable to perform at the high level. They either lied or are dumb.

Most of the forum members were very upset when the news was announced.

Basically everyone barring a couple or so were against the pathetic decision made by the board and medical staff.

Yeah. I remember the forums being pissed about this ever since it was announced. Letting Abidal go was a bad decision and we will regret it. He will be a guaranteed starter for Monaco and prove he's still world class, and we'll wish we had a guy like him in our squad. Dependable, calm, collected, tough and determined. An exemplary footballer.

He played 4 full games in less than 2 weeks. Seems really in top shape. Why did rosell let him go again?

There isn't any serious reason. Rosel made a fool of himself believing that Abidal won't get back on full rhythm ever again and that isn't enough to play for Barcelona anymore. But that really isn't true, and Abidal is proving it game by game...

Perhaps they didnt want to risk being the club that let him play in case something serious happened.. Think it was this reason

No the reason was that we need to get a CB this summer so someone's spot needs to be taken. Now what CB have we replaced Abi with?

It's not only about one CB just to take the one spot (Puyol's, Mascherano's whatever you call it), having signed a CB and with Abidal staying both of them could be starters and for the unreliable Pique to be benched and have competition. It's a wrong move from the most angles you can see it.. But now we don't have Abidal and not a new CB, if Abidal didn't leave we could find one to play alongside him. Now obviously we need two and that makes it even worse.

some people say 'rosell thought he couldn't return to his former level', I don't know if this was true or not, but I do wonder why the hell club presidents involve themselves with the intricacies and nous of football. they know shit compared to the managers and coaches.

Of course he discussed stuff with the others. If Tito really wanted to keep him, Abidal would've stayed.
