This match is pretty even, I dont know why people keep harping on the refs. The offside was very tight. We are exposed in midfield, so many players isolated, Umtiti and Pique didnt have enough support, so much so that Umtiti had a hamstring pulled and people still are gonna approve Valverde's way of handling things? Mind u Roberto just came back from an injury and he is back to the makeshift right back role. I dont care whether we win or not, but the players look very uncomfortable in this setup, some of our best players like Messi and Umtiti have to clean up the mess. Iniesta was sacrificed in a useless Juventus match when he could have played more against Valencia. Some of these reflects on how poor the managing is and all people care abt is "scraping wins". We shouldn't always depend on refs or luck, we have to be good enough to avoid any of that.

Decides not to call up Barca B players. Decides not to rest certain key players at all instead rotating between a select few positions.
We're winning so all is fine, but this short-term thinking can be destructive for us later. You tire out everyone now and we might collapse later on in the season. Also, what message does this send to La Masia? You work hard, do well and still don't get called up for a game where top spot is secured and first team need rest?
Every Barca coach have at least called up some players and given them a chance in such games.

With 1st place in the group secured one would think he'd give a few B team players an opportunity against Sporting, but instead he doesn't call up a SINGLE B team player. This guy truly is a spineless coward; if he won't give the youngsters a chance in a dead rubber match he never will. Instead he'll roll out the same lineup as usual with maybe a few rotations here and there in an absolutely meaningless match.
Valverde is more anti-youth than Lucho and I didn't think that was even possible. I for one an hoping this man gets the sack at the end of the season at the latest, the sooner the better. At this rate the likes of Alena and such will be demanding out next season.
Forget Arthur, Malcom or any other youngster for that matter, they'll just be benched for the likes of Rakitic anyways. The only reason Valverde played Dembele in the first place is because of his enormous transfer fee; if Dembele was a B team prospect he'd get zero minutes on this team despite his glaringly abundant talent.

I very much expected this from this guy. More pragmatic than lucho and Tata combined. Too much pressure on him, he is playing it safe as much as possible. Very high chances this will blow up in his face mid Feb and we will be out of CL like last year. Need the squad fresh for long runs in CL, looks like it won't happen. We are contenders in CL only because of Messi.

I'm for sacking him at the end of the season if we don't win the league and make at least CL semis. He doesn't give jack shit on youth development and that's a non-negotiable duty at Barca, developing whatever young talents we have at Barca B. There's just absolutely no excuse this time. This shows a lack of interest in developing young players.

This shows what we all knew. He is not on the required level to be FC Barca manager. FFS this guy never won anything except Grece league. He never even managed a big team. Unfortunately this is again 100% fault of our board. Alena simply had to play tomorrow! This is so sad...

Valverde isn't going to provide a new outlook or provide innovative solutions to a Barca side in desperate need of it. This is a guy who is playing starting Rakitic and Suarez every match and still playing Roberto at RB.
Never should expect him to give a chance to kids of all people.

messi roams as a 10, would drift a little to the right, coutinho will play like how iniesta always has a very wide midfielder, roberto will add workrate, dembele adds width and pace to the right, alba adds pace and width to the left
the formation is on paper but in the field that's how we've defended for like 8 years (whenever messi wasn't on RW) and seems to accommodate the whole team (also seems like what valverde is going for just lackign the right people)
