Rakitic is so far from a passer/controller that it’s unbelievable. He is a box to box workhorse and always has been.

It appears Valverde likes these type of players because Paulinho, another workhorse, has been given a free role recently. It’s all too anti-Barça for my taste.

What doesn’t make sense to me is his persistence with playing Rakitic when a better alternative, born and bred in the Barcelona way, is being utilised in the RB position and the genuine RB brought in at great expense is rotting on the bench and in the stands.

Barcelona have had great success over the years with box to box players but they’ve always been paired with a DM and a creative midfielder in a 3 man midfield. That Rakitic and Iniesta, both CM of different skill sets, are expected to patrol the wings as well as act as CM’s is crippling us. It’s little wonder better teams are finding ungodly amounts of space on counter attacks.

This Arthur signing looks to be going through and thank god for that, even though I haven’t seen him play, but where does he fit in Valverde’s crazy 4-4-2 systems?

Rakitic used to be like that. He cannot do it anymore. And if you see how he plays now, he is closer to a passer/controller - not that he does that well though..

Think I saw the story on Twitter this morning .. from what I recall - Messi apparently went beserk at the manager after the game as he'd apparently just accepted the latest ridiculous decision as ' part of football ' .
Messi accused him of not caring enough to be the Barca manager .

Sounds like he's already lost Messi's respect which means he'll be out the door sooner rather than later ..,

I don't have any problems with rumors or gossip, but you trust random stories and news that are so ridiculous and unreliable that it's funny and the way you present them is such as it's a credible story.

If you start every random story you read with; 'Hey guys, I read this dude from St. Kitts and Nevis on Twitter saying Messi blamed Valverde for not caring about his job and them having an argument', then I would be okay.

Well I for one am glad that better football is being played but Valverde's tactics are still off. Way off! Pay close attention to the positioning of Iniesta and Rakitic... They're basically playing as wingers for large parts of the games and it's little wonder we're getting caught on the counter. We're playing without any central midfielders now that Paulinho is an AM which leaves Busquets horribly exposed.

He is persisting with some variant of the 4-4-2 and it's not technically a diamond, nor is it a 4-3-1-2 but rather a 4-1-2-1-2 with Iniesta and Rakitic playing quite wide and Messi helping out on both wings. I've never seen Messi play on the left as much in his entire career (hyperbole for effect) as he has in the last 2 games alone.
