Ernesto Valverde - V1

ya know what, I'd take that deal in a NY min.! Based on what you guys were posting back on March 4th [just need to flick back to p. 229 ], you'd do a way better job than this bunch of compliant clowns at Barca Management. And maybe that's the problem, too many yes men at Camp Nou more concerned about keeping their jobs than ruffling a few feathers and contradicting the status quo.

edit: looking back at those posts, Lelouch looks like Nostradamus and she got banned, EXcommunicated :jason2: [Happy Friday the 13th btw]

she looks terrified on that pic, she foresaw that whole fiasco and tried to warn us!!!!

This is another classic
You should all shut your whore mouths tbh. This season is about winning no matter how and learning how to defend. Can't go 2 straight seasons without big trophies and getting embarrassed with 0-4 and 0-3 scorelines away from home. Next season GOATVerde will integrate Coutinho and Dembélé into the squad during preseason and we'll play 10/11 football on steroids.

GOATVerde got this.

Does it really take a Madrid supporter to remind you all reddit-worthy morons criticising a manager who made you undefeated in 2 major competitions, 8 points clear in the league in March and secured a Copa final?

This current crop of users of this forum is cancer-inducing.

Also not surprising this sanctimonious, holier than thou Madridista cunt that doesn't watch any of our matches was proven to be utterly clueless.

Went for low-hanging fruit citing stats out of context to patronize the users that had dissenting opinions and used ad-hominem as his main argument.

I didn't say he is the main problem, and EV deserve a lot of criticism
What I said is very clear:
1-No player, even Messi should have power in kicking coach out, regardless the name of the coach.
2-Messi himself has causes tactical problem for the team specially for midfield. The team set up is to make Messi do what he does best, stay between the lines , get the ball whenever he want and be play maker, he need to have a striker in front of him and workhorses to protect midfield behind him. That hinder the overall team. That doesn't make EV out of fault, don't put words in my mouth

You’re making things up now. Messi is only a tactical problem when abandoning his wing post. When he plays through the centre everything is fine. He played as a False 9 for a good part of his career as well as earlier in the season and then you make crap up like he needs a striker in front of him and workhorses (of all things) behind him to protect him... Maybe under Valverde’s double pivot Barça yeah where neither is a deep lying playmaker but there is no player on earth that understands the tactical ins and outs of football better than him.

I can’t believe I just read that... Needs a striker and workhorses. What the actual fuck? What he needs is wings and playmakers behind him so he doesn’t feel compelled to do everything himself.

Yeah for sure.

I agree with you too. Messi's lack of movement is an issue, but barely anyone in the team makes any runs. Suarez is just as much of a problem than Messi and we can live without Suarez, but not without Messi so it's obvious who needs to go.

Also, with a proper midfield that searches for the ball constantly moving and have the ability to withstand pressure and carry the ball forward, Messi would stay more advanced and in better goalscoring positions.
I really don’t know what some want from Messi... The main problem is Valverde’s 2 man central midfield. It always has been and I’ve been harping on about it for ages. Even when Valverde plays a 4-3-3 it’s still of a defensive nature because Rakitic plays alongside Busquets now instead of being the ball carrier (the 6). It’s akin to Guardiola’s solution at Bayern where, because he didn’t have a Busquets like player, he used one of the CM’s as cover for the DM. It turned out It was easier to just switch to a 4-2-3-1 which eventually happened. Well Valverde doesn’t have that problem because Busquets is alive and kicking and in my opinion better than ever. The double pivot is stifling him.

The only players that benefit from this double pivot are Rakitic and Suárez. I have never in all my years of watching football come across a manager that has 8 outfield players dance to the tune of his 2 worst players. And yes, Rakitic has only been impressive when Busquets has been alongside him. When he is not there or when he is playing injured then Rakitic looks like the limited player he actually is.

Pair Messi with 2 wide forwards and a midfield that can actually hold onto the ball and puck forward passes and then all these issues disappear.

Guy should be fired at the end of the season. Didn't abandon the style of the team... That's, simply put, a lie as big as Camp Nou.

I will always post this match every time for all defenders of short players:
Gerard-Xavi-Deco-Iniesta, a dream of all supporters of technical players.

If you'll ever find the whole match somewhere on the internet, please take a seat and watch it.
90 minutes of a horror show.
We were eaten alive in every aspect of a game.
** oh, and we were knocked out by a goal after a corner, what a surprise. Who would have expected that with our ultra-short squad?
I am shocked.

A match against Roma was a romantic comedy compared to this how outmuscled we were in every single duel.

Barca/Pep/Spain are yet to win a CL without Xavi.
Short players worked while the brain of TikiTaka, Xavi himself, was there.

Also, we don't need to go into extremes.
We don't need to buy 190 cm trees.
But why are we the only team in the world obssessed with the shortest players, with zero muscles and with a schoolboy attitude without too much courage?
Our 2 new midfielders are Coutinho who has never seen a gym and Arthur who has some muscles, but is again very short and quite slow already at the age of 22.

Remember, Barca's famous philosophy with short, technical players, won only 1 CL in 110 years, WITHOUT Messi.
More or less, every single big team won more CLs than us, when you remove Messi from the maths.

Even in the future, remove Messi from the maths, do you think that a physically weak team consisted of Busi, Arthur, Coutinho, Griezmann and Dembele will win CLs?
Lel, good luck with that one.

Andre Gomes is like 1,90 and still completely useless all around so you probably should get that obsession with height out of the way.

Next thing is we are Barca, so we don't play like every other club. Or at least we should have our own style, deal with it.

The problem is we don't even buy the players that fit the Barca style. You sound like we have all these great Barca profile players but get trashed because we lack height and muscles but that's just not the case. Players like Gomes or Rakitic shouldn't be in our midfield. They don't ONLY lack muscles, they lack speed, vision, technical abilities. And the last 2 don't have anything to do with physicality. Iniesta shouldn't even be a starter anymore, it's not his fault the board spent like 4 years and like 120M and the midfield is still the same as 2014/15. A guy like Rakitic should be an option at best but not our best CM, that just showed how bad it is. Also half of our team seriously lacks speed and stamina, especially if you overplay the 30yo players like Valverde did. If you are fresh, fast and have stamina you can press. Be can't even do that anymore.

Just bringing in muscles/height doesn't fix any of our problems. The one or the other taller/stronger guy is a good thing but first we need players that fit our style (what we currently lack) and the physical players should at least be useful for our game or learn it from the coach. Instead we bring in old Paulinho that has muscles but still somehow sucks in defending AND passing so he is only good when used for his runs in the box and the coach doesn't even trust him to defend a 4-1 in Rome. But he was supposed to be a player exactly for that situation. See that's the problem. I would love a good mix of like Coutinho, Sergio, Arthur, Alena, another playmaker (and as i said that doesn't mean he can't win a duel), a physically strong DM and Sergi. Combine that with a Striker that can actually track back fast and consistantly instead of what Suarez is doing lately and it's already way better than what we currently have, not only for creating chances but also for defending/pressing high. Talking about set pieces we would could always change wingbacks because you can't deal with that with only the midfielders, but finding world class there is already hard enough seeing how Pep had to spent way over 100M for two good wingbacks.

I mean we will always have a disadvantage at set pieces and it can be hard to fight the super physical squads but it's not only about muscles. I'd be happy if that was our only problem, but while we still lack 1v1, speed, passing then muscles isn't the biggest issue.

Full Valverde Pre-Match Press Conference (13/04/18):

Valverde: "It's not the worst time of my career, sure. It's a bad time, I can't deny it, but I'm fine."

Valverde: "Messi is touched like everyone, but waiting for the ball to roll again."

Valverde: "I do not know many things, but you know that when you sign for a team like this, you have deal with the criticism."

Valverde: "The reaction of the public will depend on our response. We need ten points to win this title."

Valverde: "I have nothing to say about Piqué and Messi asking me for explanations because there was nothing like that."

Valverde: "No, the Barça style has not been betrayed in Rome at any time."

Valverde: "I am expecting the same Valencia as always. They are in the middle of a great run with a system that is bringing great success. They are having an excellent season."

Fire him asap.

When a manager has no remorse and acts like this there is no hope. At least Tata was humble, likeable and owned up to his faults. This jackass is just a quiet Mourinho.

"The Barca style has not been betrayed in Rome at any time".

I'm beginning to think this guy is seriously deluded.

Even Strootman quoted that we didn't impose ourselves the way that we normally do.

So how the fuck can EV say that??

He set the team up to hold on and even when it was clear that we needed to change things up and take the game to them a bit more, we just rolled over.

Instead of owning up and realizing that screwed up the guy just spouts this type of crazy shit.

He's got to be sent packing.

Well just read on twitter that MD is reporting the club requiring Valverde to win the CDR, the league and Pichichi to Messi. I dont know how true this is (except that they ofc expect the double) but in case his ass is hanging on this line then i pray to God that Sevilla beat the shit out of us in the cup and that we are bottling the league till the last game before we manage to win it. I would gladly take a huge loss in the CDR, CR7 or Suarez beating Messi to the pichichi and Lewa, Immobile or hopefully Salah beat Messi to the golden boot if that means Valverde getting thrown out.

I really cant believe we gone from Pep to Lucho to this complete clown. I'll take anything for this idiot to get the boot. Messi needs to be smarter for the sake of his prime, he mustn't put in his best performance against Sevilla.

Can't believe some of you want us to loose, pathetic really.

I'm no fan of Valverde, he's to conservative to my liking, but wanting the team to loose the cup final or whatever doesn't help the club or the players at all.
