Ernesto Valverde - V1

At least BBZ is consistent in his hatred for young players and speedy wingers, and shuts up when they prove him wrong, until they start to prove him right, anyways. All things considered, it's pretty normal.

But this whole defending Valverde thing is just mind blowing. The guy has literally zero upside or positive qualities about him, but hey, it happens when we have a shitty squad..? Like he seriously compared our team to the biggest CL competition when diminishing how good our team is without even mentioning all the dropped points to Girona, Eibar, Betis, etc.

God Serena The whole defending of Valverde thing is bullshit to even begin with. I saw right through him from the start since last season, I even got banned a few times but I ain't buying this guy's bullshit. To be fair, this coach had many people fooled, I've got to give him that. He's a grade A fraud and liar, a poor man's Mourinho, hides behind results and duped people into thinking he's doing a great job.

Looking back, you just cant help but laugh at some people:lol:, at least for some users like Origami he suported Ev but he supported the players as well. I respect that. But for others, they even tried so hard to downplay Pep, blame young players for being inexperienced and immature, blame old players for being too old and slow, blame away games against the likes of Levante, Leganes, Eibar for being too tough but then lose home games to Betis, drew with Girona etc. So obviously these excuses don't make sense.

What else? Justifying his decisions by saying player's positions is very important to accomodate Messi and Suarez, but plays newcomers out of position anyway. Claims newcomers should always "impress" Lord Valverde but if old players play like shit, it's okay because they are senior. Talk how defence is more important because it gives balance, but Roberto who cant defend is a MUST in RB, defender's position. Rofl. Even Gomes, Aleix Vidal is better than Dembele, because "defence". Dug up stats to show how much minutes Dembele and Semedo played, but not forgetting how much they were benched in important games and for long periods of time. If anything those were not consistent minutes at all. Then it's crazy to see how much minutes Messi, Suarez, Rakitic, Busquets played. Practically no rests at all.

Lastly, justifying rotations by blaming the board and their directors for not giving Ernie a good enough squad, despite spending 480M, is somehow not enough. Then contradict themselves by saying Manchester City is spent 500M.

It's kind of interesting to dwell in the minds of these mini-bullshit artists. Of course, you have BBZ to talk even more bullshit to support these claims and good ol Jamdav a pseudo intellectual who has nothing to support his claims, repeated ad hominem claiming opposition views arent "real barca fans". Some Ev fanboys even missed Jamdav  I think most people shuts up after proven wrong, but you'll notice they will try to find another target/bullshit reason to back Valverde again. Mini-bullshit artists produced by the biggest fraud himself, what can I say and I'm not surprised.

I sort of started thinking recently that the idiot is only idiot coz he does not respond sooner but that, he actually does prepare well for big matches - And that, it is when the opponent makes some changes that he gets caught! The examples like the Juventus games last season, or the Inter/Spurs games this season, el Clasico, etc got me to think of him that way.

But looks like he actually is a complete dumb fuck and he cannot prepare the team well even if he was given all the time in the world! And the good performances from the team, last season or this season, during big occasions is completely down the players being extra motivated!!

Well, only players under 25 can get motivational benching under Eerie Ernie. You can be a Pique and travel the world, while your team conciedes 5 in a row mostly because of you any you'll be still playing. You can be half-dead on the pitch like Ivan and you'll be still playing. And meanwhile, if you are a youngster, you'll be benched for 2 months straight and when your opportunity comes, you'll be playing out of position.

Not to mention how Messi-whipped our old guard is, because our master tactician can't implement another way to opponent's goal than give it to Messi who is at CAM, at the top of the box.

The way i see it, the main problem is probably that the defense just cannot stop leaking goals... Hence EV opts for as many midfielders as possible to compensate lack of defending from Messi, Suarez plus limits the fuck ups of Pique who for some reason doesn`t have a backup option (we have two left footed defenders) and gets away with his constant screw ups.. Could explain why he is hesitant to play Dembele since he considers that another liability on defense compared to say Rafinha or Roberto.. Of course i could be totally wrong about this..

P.S : I totally agree EV is super conservative and he is probably not right to manage a club as big as ours.. He usually sets up our team for big matches well but is not proactive to react based on the opponent coaches decisions.. But the bigger problem is our players are acting like they are an entitled lot, just walking around the pitch as if they came for a stroll..

Yes, that is a part of the problem. But still, if you go attacking against mid-table teams with this squad, it should be 2 or 3-0 before halftime, or you can wear them down and go for the kill in the 2nd. But now, we are playing meaningless posession football with 0 pace, so the opponent can just sit back and wait for their chances, because one of our full backs will be caught in the final third. Meanwhile our midfield is dead tired and can't track back. Nowadays youman-mark Messi and we can't do anything because the CB's are isolating Suarez and there is noone else in the final third.

The problem with Messi is complicated. To be honest, during all of his career at Barcelona he only had 1 world class manager. 1 world class manager in 13 years. He could have achieved even more under the right managers, and some of the bad habits he developed over the years wouldn't have been as present as today. Post Pep, except for some 10 months under Lucho when he really was part of an actual system, every manager we had deferred to Messi to an amazing degree, leading to him being basically above the system and tactics, which is kind of a cardinal sin when you play top opponents.

Bad management has plagued this team since Pep left. We had brief moments where the squad had a stuck of ego (after shit seasons) and bounced back a bit, until they sulked again under the obvious lack of leadership and competence from the sideline.

Messi is the best example to prove why Valverde is so bad at coaching:
1- If everyone is passing to Messi, a good coach would create a system where everyone would be included in the play, and players would know what they have to do with the ball, when to pass, where to pass, and not this tactic created by Valverde "move the ball higher on the pitch then find Messi and let him do the rest".
2- If Messi is walking and bla bla bla, a good coach would tell him to run or at least help to cover a small area in the middle of the pitch, and if Messi doesn't want to, then a good coach would tell him "look boy, you're the GOAT but we won games without you on the team, so, you're not unbenchable, you better start moving more".
3- The thing that most people complain is that Messi doesn't stick to the right wing. Again, like in number 2, a good coach would talk to him and convince that he can give much more to the team staying on the right wing, otherwise, he can rest a little bit on the bench.

you think a manager of the standing of a valverde can bench messi and survive? that is really naive. messi wants to play every game, he even hesitated to be swapped out with a broken arm for 5 minutes! valverde could lose the dressing room very quickly with shit like benching messi. I mean we all know he literally plays the same established guys to exhaustion just to keep his job safe. valverde will never ever bench messi due to bad form or unwillingness to play on a certain position. even if he wanted to, he doesn't have the standing to do it. in fact I really don't believe messi and co take him seriously at all

Benching Messi would be one of the last solutions. You obviously first talk to him and explain him why sticking to a clearer position is helpful for the team. If you know what you're doing as a manager then that shouldn't be a problem.

But we're dreaming if we expect a manager who can't even get basic things right can manage quite a complicated player like Messi. Messi is a player with unique qualities, but also with clear weaknesses at this point in his career. You basically need to be smart enough to play him in a way that maximizes his skills and minimizes his weaknesses. That's what top coaching is about.

serghei Yeah pretty much. Messi is an extremely unique and talented player, said before that he should be treated as a puzzle piece rather than a centerpiece. Many managers failed to understand that, and keeps having the impression he's a player that will win you any games just bcos he's Messi. Pep managed to truly open the floodgates of his abilities, because we're talking about a player who is 5 foot 7, who doesnt have a lot of stamina to begin with. And unlocking Messi's potential is not just about him, it's about how the entire team operates. Their specific roles, movement, attacking patterns, ways to break down defences. Especially the front 3 and the midfield trio, inject pace and unpredictability, free up with movement and take off pressure so that Messi could burst into those acres of space and opponents will be done and dusted before they know it.

The difference wasn't as simple as just having Messi; the difference was Pep treated Messi as a normal player like any other in the team, motivated him, knew exactly how he's gonna exploit his insane talent in a team he built and orchestrated.

Messi still had the same weaknesses then, but the only difference there was someone there to truly maximise his potential so much so that his flaws seemed non-existent. Ever since Pep left, he just struggled so bad to truly explode in form and bring back the European silverware as well as the Ballon d or. Lucho managed to motivate him but after that lost the plot with Gomes and was riddled with Neymar tactical and ego issues. Now you have EV who doesnt even know how to use all 3 of his subs. Messi's career has been in a downward spiral until someone can come along and bring back who he was. But I'm afraid his best years were wasted by mediocre coaches and time is just ticking now.

on the other side we're expecting messi to carry us and somehow put one in despite not playing well otherwise. wait, but that's also what we expect suarez to do. and even 80th min subs dembele and malcolm! (cause it seems to work at least sometimes, right Valverde?)

this situation is fucked. only a new coach with a new plan can fix it. real sure know how to get rid of a coach quickly, and bayern will do the same soon
