Switching from 4-4-2 to 4-3-3 while having a great track record with 4-4-2 and it fitted the group of players we had more than 4-3-3, is pretty much prove of it. As said, he develops slowly a more barca-like playing style, and he can just do so much with the players the club provides him and the results Barca are expected to get. Not even Pep could play total or tiki-taka-football and win titles with this squad. Paulinho was sold, and Arthur was implemented in the starting line-up, because he had the quality and profile (while also having barca-dna-traits) to play for us.
But yeah, if you think, that the only way to be a barca fan is that you no matter what support the cruyff-model even tho it means we wont be relevant for any throphies and may do us big harm in the long run, then we dont really have anything to debate about.
Im fine with taking a more pragmatic stand for the time being, so we can compete in all competions and secure us titles and make the club better globaly. Doesnt mean i dont want Barca to play total-tiki/taka football - thats the ideal we have to work towards, but we can take a more pragmatic stand in a situation like the one we are in with a lot of our all-time club legends having retired / quit the team and losing Messis succesor in Neymar. And im not the only one, thinking this way, even Pique openly supports Valverde, while being a life-long club member, having ambition of being president, grandson of former president, often has supported the "barca-way" in media, generally has strong feelings about the club and always honest in the media. You tell me Pique doesnt know anything about what Barca is about?
Edit: Its not like we play mourinho-football. And defending a lead has happened less and less (also prove of valverdes ambition to reach a point to play barca-like football). And please dont tell me we tried to defend the lead against Lyon, we clearly didnt.
