Ernesto Valverde - V1

"We looked good defensively", "deliberately let Liverpool have possession", "we only gave away half-chances"?

People actually believe that?

Even for those who haven't seen it. We had less possession, less shots, corners, miles covered. Every general stat is on Liverpool's side

My man Barca had the best chances in the game. Even aside from the goals Barca had three clear cut chances they didn't score, Vidal's miss and the two at the end which dembele screwed up.

No, you buffoon, he is payed to deliver results. And up until now he has done that.

Don't think the board put a clause in his contract to play beautiful football every game like they didn't put a clause for him not to base his tactics on Messi.

You are starting to become a joke man, just let it go.

Dude, I'm still waiting for your response to my post to you. If you don't have an answer to my post then STFU. ok?

But the only stat that count is ours: 3-0

Fortunately with EV we don't play in such typical naive way as to lose in embarrassing ways (4-0 psg or 3-0 Juventus or 7-0 Bayern), despite having the key players much older and a less strong team than at that time

If we tried to replicate Pep’s Barca with this material Lyon would have knocked us out.

If Valverde delivers the treble then he gets full praise.

Wait wut... that doesnt make sense. So every result up until the final is because of Messi, but 90 minutes later Valverde will receive full praise?

Then at least be consistent and dont praise him after the trebel.

didn't have to answer to that load of shite since you didn't wrote something worth responding to. we are messi reliant but pep had xaviesta + alves and lucho had msn? well it seems you already answered to that yourself.

I’m waiting until the end of the season before I praise Valverde, we got unbelievable lucky against Liverpool. A part of me thinks this is not over yet this tie. We are winning games because of Messi genius brilliance.

If Valverde delivers the treble then he gets full praise.

??
up to 3 games from the triplete we win only thanks to Messi and not EV, then (3 matches) if we win the triplete is thanks to EV ?
What the fucking kind of logic is that?

You are right. I won’t praise him, I just won’t criticise him. It is down to Messi though.

It wasn't a defensive masterclass against Liverpool, but a satisfactory performance altogether. We didn't shut them down completely, but who could? Deprived them of space, made creating as tough as possible. We'd be unlucky had they scored more than one. In the end, Fortuna was kind to us and they missed their big chance. We finished the match with better opportunities.

and who else should EV be relying on ? coutinho the 160mio wonder boy ? or Dembele the other 120Mio wonder boy(?), always injured or rusty and rarely shape ?
Or old Suarez who is the shadow of himself ?
Has EV the luck to have, like Pep, the best duo (Iniesta and Xavi) in the midfield instead to have Rakitic and Arthur/SRoberto ? Has EV at his disposal the best cantera generation ever ?.....
Has EV the luck to have Neymar instead of Coutinho or Dembele ? And younger Iniesta and younger Busquests and younger Suarez.... ?
He's forced to relying on Messi.
With the material at his disposal, EV's doing a very good job.

EV is doing an extremly bad job with the material he has.
Constantly playing the same players even if they play like shit and always subbing the same players even if they are motm.
Not changing any tactic whatsoever to try and counter the opponents tactics.
I could do exactly the same thing Valverde does in a game.
He doesnt give younger players any chance to play and heavily rely on the old guard.
Messi should be the focus player, but Barcelona has always been about teamwork, not a single player effort.

The scoreline is not all that matters, maybe for other clubs, but not for Barcelona.
Playing beatiful football and entertaining the fans is just as big part, and you can do both.
There are several other teams that plays the boring type of anti-football Valverde plays, but its as far away from how Barcelona should play as possible.

It wasnt a defensive class but no one will tell you we were lucky to reach the final. Not like Real. All of the people I have talked to that saw the game, not a single one said ‘wow, Barca were really lucky to win this’.
If you wanna talk luck bring up Chelsea game under Pep.
If we win the CL people will consider it deserved just like the previous time.

Yeah Even the lfc fans i know said " u scored on our chances while we didnt, so you deserved it. " but somehow they seem confident to turn it around because "they played better", they probably dont know how papaverde opetates. 10-1, nuff said

True. Key to block Liverpool was always to go at it as intense as they do. They pummel teams who just slack off and don't fight hard. We did work hard and even the players who normally ball watch a lot in defense, like Messi and Surez, realized, like against Bayern in 2015, that this time more effort was required for them too.

I'd say the energy level and the fight and workrate were very high, even if the tactics were maybe too Messi-centric and defensive. What surprised me was that Liverpool did not look superior physically at all. And once we matched them in this area, the gap in quality was evident imo. This game put the idea that Liverpool have comparable players to us to bed. They only come close on 3-4 positions.

Very Real Madrid like performance. This is how they win this often in CL. Professional attitude, right mentality and hard work, know how to suffer and make the difference in moments with their superior players.

This is not a great Barcelona team like the 2009, 2011, 2015 teams, and if we win the CL this season, a lot of credit would go to Valverde.
