Ernesto Valverde - V1

With the situation Tata had, even Pep would have found it tough to win anything with us. His first 6 months were very good when players were not shite.

Better than EV by a mile or so and even better than Lucho but wouldn't take him as a coach again.

Barcelona are considering the option of replacing Ernesto Valverde with Argentine coach Tata Martino, who is currently managing Mexico International Team. [CAT RADIO]

Are these guys fucking retarded? My God I cannot believe this shit? This should not even be a pipe dream. For some reason we always want a shit manager.
I would honestly take Mourinho over Tata and I hate Mourinho and not Tata.

Its like you can replace thebiard with any 16 year old fm player and he would do better.
Im not watching any matches anymore if Valverde is on the bench but if its some clueless replacement they can go fuck themselves as well.

hahahahahahahah

That would be a manager who would offer absolutely nothing to our team. With Tata it would be another trophyless season - Im sure of it.

Agreed, not the best choice out there but at this moment I would choose Tata over this fraud manager any day.

That’s just ridiculous lol. While I think a change is needed after that result, to say Tata is better than valverde is quite crazy.

Tata had younger messi, Alves at rb, Neymar, iniesta still in his prime, Busquets still in his prime, and ended trophyless. He also moved away from Barca’s style, just less effectively, so people can’t be hypocritical in the style issue. Also, when lucho and valverde moved away from Barca’s style, it was pragmatic, Barca didn’t have the players to pull off the style because some players were old and slow, guys like rakitic can’t play in a tiki taka system, etc. When Tata moved from the style Barca still had the players to execute it (younger Busquets/Pique, had iniesta in his prime, Alves in his prime, Xavi was still around albeit older)

Valverde has flopped in Europe but you can not deny the work he has done domestically. Barca are consistent in the league with a strong defence.

Well, always dapper never drab 007 coach Renard, Hervé Renard got a license to thrill and is available next season. And for those of yous wishing for a change, Rejoice! for, he's the perfect reverso-retardo

Here's a feature touching on his fiery, demanding personality and the intensity he brings to the game. Apparently, not only his players don't resent him for it, they adore him ->

https://thesefootballtimes.co/2016/04/21/how-herve-renard-went-from-obscurity-to-conquering-africa/

ie. "Renard’s esteem of the mental side of management is equally profound. After Sunzu’s winning penalty he showed all the sensitivity of a doting parent, but during the match itself, he was as animated and aggressive as Diego Simeone or Jürgen Klopp. One moment in particular encapsulated what makes him such a mastermind. In a fit of fury, he wildly screamed at Davies Nkausu, who was only a few metres away, for a lapse in concentration. The right-back’s expression was one of admission, but Renard had not finished: he bellowed at his man to ‘come here’ as if he were an errant schoolboy and slammed a powerful clenched fist into his chest as he continued delivering his powerful rebuke.

One might understandably expect a professional footballer to react in kind to a ferocious burst such as the one Renard had unleashed. Instead Nkausu, without flinching, rested his hand on his manager and grasped his shoulder, as if to reassure him that he’d accepted and understood the message. The contact was brief but telling – there was nothing personal or insulting about the delivery from Renard, but the depth of emotion told the story of his philosophy. “I do think that his strength is unifying his side,” Mezahi continues. “His players love him and he’s so fiery like many of his contemporaries. It’s especially important in tournament play as opposed to the league, which is more of a marathon.

& a few paras later "The Ivorian celebrations were full of dancing and laughter as their manager took centre stage, stripped to the waist and leading the celebrations in front of the fans, his players following his every move. At one point he even hoisted birthday cake aficionado Yaya Touré on his shoulder and carried him across the pitch, even though a week earlier he had criticised his captain’s contribution in the early stages of the competition."

Trying to picture pops Ernesto criticising one of our players for his lack of grit, and a week later, pick him on his shoulder for a victory lap. :hooray:

Another cool thing is that he's not afraid to admit his mistakes:
