Valverde is very clearly a flawed manager, but fans must stop using Pep as the benchmark to judge other coaches off. Pep is a top manager in the history of football and the only other gaffer remotely in the same class as him today is Klopp.
Exclude those two and look around world football? Who is there?
Pochettino? Oh please. Has a good enough squad yet cannot win feck all. Fickle Barca fans would want him out the door within a year.
Conte, Allegri, Simeone? Too defensive for our total-football loving fanbase.
Mourinho, Ancelotti? Past it.
Tuchel, Sarri? Second rate, overrated offensive coaches.
Ten Hag, Gallardo, Setien? Unproven.
Now stop dreaming for a second and tell me which manager could we realistically hire that would make this squad full of overrated talents and past it legends competitive for the CL again far beyond what Valverde is currently capable of?
We will start a new project with a new, risky, more imaginative manager and possibly a new board after the departure of Messi. As of now the current state of the club is untenable for almost any manager to return to glory.

Not once did I say none of those managers are better than Valverde.
What I did suggest is that none of them are likely to be at the requisite level to take this current squad to the desired level in the CL.
That was entire purpose of my post and the reason why I started with saying Pep is a poor benchmark to compare other coaches with. Not because there aren't any better than Valverde, but because he makes every coach other than Klopp currently look like an amateur.
This is the problem that constructive dialogue faces when posters simply skim their "opponent's" post to quickly identify key words they can create a strawman out of rather than take their time to truly read and understand the points made.
Also is this the standard of utter rubbish allowed on this forum?

Lol, only reason why Valverde didn't win the CL last season is because he is an average manager. Every one of the managers you listed would've probably won the CL last season. Not saying it's an absolute certainty, but I struggle to see anyone from the guys you listed putting in such a horror show team and blowing up a 3-0 lead.
