I'll never get this argument, think for a second before you make these statements, can you imagine a timeline where Messi or any player says in a press conference "Yeah the manager isn't really working out", it's just never gonna happen, he isn't a sports director, plus he is getting paid 1m a week, I'm sure he'll do anything Barto will ask him to do.

This argument doesn't work. Messi full-flegedly backed Valverde in that presser.

It's a neutral statement, and most footballers would say that. It is a shame that the players didn't through EV under the bus, but it seems they felt more at fault about Anfield than him.

If you get asked if you like the manager, and your answer is "it's up to the board", when you can simply say yes, it's obviously negative.

Nah, its obviously neutral because there is nothing positive or negative in it. Simple.
If you and the media choose to interpret it as negative, that is up to you but the statement itself doesnt say anything negative at all.

If you don't say anything positive, there has to be a reason for it... If you answer the question "Are you happy with the coach?" with "no comment", then literally every newspaper will explode on that, such answer where it's just "neutral" doesn't exist.

MD on the front page:

"Klopp, el preferido si no sigue Valverde"

That's like saying if I don't manage to win over the girl from the pub across the street, I'm going after Irina Shayk.

No wonder these guys are the board's mouthpiece. Just as dumb.

Edit: Actually, the title is misleading. The article is good.

GOOD: 80% of the Socis think Valverde should no longer be the manager.

BAD: 32% of the Socis think Ronald Koeman is better than Klopp and Guardiola .

Conclusion: We're probably getting rid of the clown but the suffering won't be over.

If you can't see how ”i am not in a position to comment and decide anything about the coach, its up to the board” is obviously negative then idk what to tell you.

I agree with El Guaje. We all remember what Messi did to LE in his first season, so there is that too.

This is the most negative level a player can allow himself without being shot !

What's a neutral statement about a " do you like" question ?

Try replying "i don't know" for this question about someone you know you'll see the storm in your face :D

Also about the blame Messi put on him & the players of course he has to do it and it's the right thing

Who the hell will say oh it's the manager, only an amateur will say that not only because it's non pro but it's certainly not entirely true as Messi knew a big portion of the issue was with the players & himself and yes Valverde too but you don't finger point the manager.

Pro players don't do that even if they know the board will throw the manager out
