Ernesto Valverde

What the hell happened that made the board wake up? 6 months, or even 18 months too late though.

We're run by idiots.

I'd be shocked if after all the shit shows in the past 2,5 years, a Supercopa defeat against Atletico would be the one, who finally tips it over the edge and we actually fire a coach, and even mid-season at that. Still much more likely is Valverde leaving after (if) we don't win La Liga this season. But then again, Bartomeu and this Board have had this weird domestic fetish where we could get humiliated in Europe, but as long as we're beating Atletico and Real and winning domestic titles, all is okay. But now with Real actually being decent this season, coupled with our worst La Liga campaign points wise in the past decade, resulting in us not having any advantage over them by this point, which we were pretty much used to in previous two seasons, and now even Atletico's first win against this Barca, on top of our Copa defeat vs. Valencia from last season, so we won't be neither Copa nor Supercopa current holders, it may be enough anyway.

Xavi would be older than Guardiola when he started coaching us. I would obviously be more than happy for him, but Im really not sure the timing is right. On the other hand theres always the right time to sack Valverde.

There is a difference though, Xavi will be managing a lot of his old mates whom he played with not that long ago. Guardiola started his tenure with a purge of some of the old guard. I doubt Xavi will be allowed to do the same.

Xavi isn't ready and I hope he rejects the offer. Barto finally coming to the conclusion that there is a big chance that we won't win anything this season and it will be him to blame for keeping his trust in Valverde at the end of last season. So he wants to kill two birds with one stone, sack Valverde before it's too late, and get a manager that is capable of winning him/his successor votes in the next election.

I would love to see Xavi as our new manager, but... he has absolutely no experience in coaching. he needs to quit playing first, then start as a assistant somewhere to gain some experience and then, return to Barcelona. At this moment, Ten Haag will be the best choice, but he just signed new contract with Ajax.

Last I heard Ten Hag doesn't speak Spanish and the board will ALWAYS play it safe due to internal politics and rival factions. Xavi is a former player and legend but hasn't proven himself to be a coach, yet.

I think Xavi would be stupid to coach now. There are too many of his ex team mates still around and he's not coached at a mid level club yet. He'd be smart to reject the offer and start at Barça B.
We need a big name who will steady the ship, hace a solid tactical plan and see out the rest of the season.

Allegri comes to mind.

Anyone would be better than Valverde at this point...I’d bring Xavi in a heartbeat, even if the circumstances are far from ideal right now.

That said,I’m afraid we will be stuck with Valverde for the rest of the season. The catalan papers have a habit of overreacting and producing fake news.

Wenger? I think he'd leave that new cushy FIFA job, if we came calling. I've never liked Allegri personally (does he even speak Spanish? and Italian coaches seem to fail miserably abroad) too defensive minded for me, although he could still be a solid choice for our CL run, as he has the experience and the tactical know-how to set up his team in a way we would certainly have at least a realistic chance to go for it, not like with Valmierda, when you just know we don't stand a chance.

Xavi will never take it, dawg.

He's Vicotor Font's main man. No way he will take it a year before elections.

Dawg.

Being older doesn't mean much, he has no experience. Really it just shows you how old the team is if many of them have played with a man who is now 39. He's a garbage choice in comparison, he'll have vested interests and has probably only been brought up in conversation, because Abidal doesn't like the idea of Koeman.

The circus would be complete if Xavi came back though. The club purely back to its roots with vacuous moaning and endless pseudophilosophy in the pressers.

Pseudo philosophy? 😂. We actually had a philosophy until your hero Shitverde came and destroyed it. I agree that now is not the time for Xavi but the Barça philosophy has produced great players and great football. Your club should know. They've bared the brunt of it.
