Ernesto Valverde

Would be hilarious and very fitting if this more or less meaningless game was the end of Ernie. Everybody knew Valverde sucks for like 2 years now but they insisted on keeping him no matter how shit the team played or how he chocked in the CL but losing Supercopa? Yeah out immediately

I don't want to get my hopes up just now though. According to journalists he was (almost) sacked at least 2 or 3 times already and nothing happened.

If Xavi comes in are we really supposed to believe he’s going to do the right thing and kick out Pique / busquets and Suarez from the starting xi. Doubtful

Forget about xaxi. Xavi will want to take the reigns of a different squad than his homies. To start almost from scratch the way pep did in 2009.no artists would want to paint over a tarnished canvas. I think xavi will make himself available to barca when the senior players retiré 2 or 3 years from now.

I will believe it when it's official. I think this just a ploy from the board to stave off the heat and maybe put a little indirect pressure on Shitverde. Also think it's a way of saying we're getting rid of Shitverde.

What pisses me off the most about this animated corpse is the way he throws Fati in the last 5 minutes everytime we are loosing.. Throwing him for the sake of appearances and "offensive substitution". In the fucking final 5 minutes after being shelved for 4 5 games. He did the same shit with Alena.[vine][/vine]

I agree with this. Barcelona right now looks like a sinking ship. We have few players in their prime but way too many past it.. and huge pressure to deliver trophies. Bad combination.

He was safe after 2 most disgraceful defeats in the history of this club, can't even be bothered to entertain this idea that some supercopa friendly is gonna be the dealbreaker, he is still gonna be here in 2021 and that's just facts.

Getting Xavi in the conversation for the future is a very convenient way for the board to justify keeping Ernie not only now but even back last summer. Just the idea of keeping the spot open for Xavi to become some kind of Pep 2.0. is probably enough to please at least some fans and make them forget about how terrible Valverde actually is.

But i don't think it'll happen now and i also don't think it would be a good idea. Not in this situation, not with this squad.

I never expected we'd play triple pivot and now we are.

If as BBZ8800 says that we're a sinking ship regardless what we do, let us sink in style

Sign Xavi, fill the starting 11 with younger players and see where that leads.

Messi will still be there to win us la ligas while the youngsters gain experience and who knows....

Taking risks is the way forward.

Same way in my relationship. The next time i am going after a girl it's going to be a 8-9 and i will make sure i up my level accordingly.

Taking risks, It might pay off.

I threw my 2.1 Million shillings on a chicken farm investment. That's risk. It might pay off handsomely in march.

Some optimism is good

He doesn't have to do that. We'll still have Griezmann, Pique, Messi, Alba, Suarez. Just like Madrid currently still play Ramos, Benzema, Marcelo, Carvajal, Kroos. When they are all fit.

Pep didn't cut off Ronaldinho and Deco when he came because they were old. He did it because they were more interested in partying than playing football. We don't have such cases here. He cut off Ibra very fast because he was a punk. Nothing to do with age.

Proper management doesn't only help young players. It helps all players that CAN and WANT to be helped. So the players who are not professional enough, don't want to do some tactical things the manager asks of them, or are simply too old to do the intense work required at this level, will exclude themselves from the new team. The veterans who comply with the new order of things will be extremely valuable and will also play better. Just like the Madrid veterans are playing better with Zidane, even though they were trash with Benitez, Lopetegui.

Love how the board didn't flinch at 2 consecutive CL humiliations but a supercup loss is a crisis

Well, as long as it gets Valverde out

Still won't believe anything until it's official

Well, for the board, it's better if its seen as their initiative, rather than a forced move caused by a heavy defeat like Rome or Liverpool.

Think even this retarded board sees where things are going and want to establish themselves as the wise men, who knew what they were doing all along before demising.
Btw, what exactly is going on? I only read some last comments and get the gist that Valverede is finally being questioned. Is there some concrete demands of his sacking?
