I don't think the board wanted to fire Valverde mid-season in the case Xavi turned us down. They would have much preferred to keep him on until June. Unfortunately their trip to Qatar to meet Xavi was managed in shambolic fashion and everything leaked to the press making EV's job untenable.

I'm not so convinced ten Hag is Bayern-bound. Latest reports suggest they might prefer Tuchel who could be available at the end of the season.

I don't rate Setien highly enough to believe he's anything more than short-term solution, but I'd be happy for him to prove me wrong and do well.

Yea, but a good short term solution would not be too bad to set the ground for the next manager. I hope it's Xavi personally.

Any cuck in here who insists EV was wronged by Barca should be immediately banned.

He wronged Barcelona to hell and beyond with his approach and handling of the Roma AND Anfield games.

Not to mention smaller meltdowns like v Valencia and AM. He's a loser and has degraded Barca's name (for the time being) from a dominant force in Europe or at the very least feared to the 2nd most prone to choking after QSG.

Good riddance.

A more successful Valverde = CL win right ?

No.

Allegri got stuffed any time Juve came v a prime time team like MSN Barcelona, Pep's Bayern, or RM. Juve weren't even THAT competitive in those games. Maybe just the Bayern one.

We'll need someone who plays more expansive football to overcome Pool.

They wanted Xavi, Valverde has gotten upset (logically), now Xavi turned us down and we had to go for the few available managers who are competent and will train the team for 6 months without a long contract guaranteed. Realistically it was Pimienta vs Setien, and Setien has more experience in La Liga coaching entertaining teams.

It was a mess, but I'm glad we're free of Valverde. Most boring Barca to watch and with Suarez out, trophy-less season would've been almost guaranteed.

Valverde won La Liga and was in CL semi finals. Allegri has managed to go to finals with Juve too.

I'm just joking, if anyhting. I think Allegri would succeed results wise at Barça but would be an huge failure for the playstyle Barça wants to have. Bit like Capello being sacked by Madrid despite his good results.

Well, one could say that Juventus overachieved. With the armada he would have with Barça, he could totally win it.

Messi got him both. Allegri by himself isn't enough to push us from CL SF to a CL win. Not interested in playing CL finals and losing like Juve and AM do. Usually, conservative approach teams lose finals.

Barca and Madrid have won 8 of their last 8 CL finals played, 4 each. There's a clear pattern of attacking, expansive football prevailing.

His style requires a certain style of players, especially a certain style of defenders. Barca need to revamp their entire backline from FBs to CBs for that.

On top of that he plays to not lose. His playstyle would probably be worse than Valverde's.

Well, Ernie drew only Europa League level teams in all 4 ties prior to Liverpool. And even then he had huge luck vs Chelsea away and managed to lose 3-0 to a Roma team that next season was knocked out by Porto in Last 16 lol.

If Setien gets past Napoli and draws Atalanta or Valencia in the QF, which is the type of luck Ernie had, he'll also sneak his way into a SF just like that.

Look at the teams Ernie drew:

- Declined EL Chelsea
- Roma
- Lyon
- Past it United

Neither of these teams is a regular top 10 team.

I have been informed that in 1.5 hours (9:00 PM BCN time), the club will release an Communicado Offciel on Valverde's sacking.

Ten Hag is a fan favorite but there is no indication that the club is interested in him, I didn't see a single tweet or report linking him to us whereas he has been consistently linked to Bayern.

Hard to get any high-profile managers since the only ones available right now are Pochettino and Allegri. Poch will say no to us and Allgeri is not ideal either.

Perhaps several years down the road we will consider Nagelsmann.
