If a serious offer is made to Poch, he isn’t going to say no. Managing one of the largest and most successful clubs in the world, who also happen to have the GOAT - a fellow Argentine, a team that competes on all stages. It’s too good an opportunity for him to turn down, regardless of allegiances.

Precisely.

There a massive difference between saying you would never manage another club when you already have a secure job, and when you're sitting on the sofa at home unemployed, especially when that club is at the stature of Barca.

Just like there is a difference between Spurs-Arsenal rivalry and Espanyol-Barcelona one for a guy who devoted 12 years of his life to one club, but not the other.

Again, if not on the basis of affiliation, it's a bad choice on timing and personnel. He'd be signing himself onto a contract with a club led by a notoriously terrible board who don't know how to handle business professionally, whose recruitment was chequered and who do not guarantee you will be treated with dignity if things don't go so well. Do you expect Pochettino would be able to ask the club to bin the amigos and do what he wants? Don't expect so.

relax wolfe, poch to barca most probably is not going to happen. going by recent reports, its most likely going to be Setien.

I'd take Setien too, especially since although he doesn't suit us best in other regards, he certainly does in the visual aspect. And after suffering under Valmierda's conservative approach for the past 2,5 years, and especially this season, when I found myself actively not wanting to turn on the TV on our matches, having a manager demanding to play like Setien did with Betis (I certainly hope he won't settle for anything less, even with the obvious bigger names for him to manage) this will be a big breath of fresh air and a beacon of hope regarding my new-found excitement to watch Barca.

Of course I'd prefer a bigger name, a strong willed manager to come in and start 'busting heads' and sorting out our seniors, but if we're going for Setien, I have to assume, we're going the 6-month interim role way, and that I guess makes the first thing not matter as much, if we're getting a different manager in the summer again anyway.

Setien would be rock-bottom in terms of excitement (still much better than Valverde!) but at the same time, I suppose he's the most realistically attainable for a care-taker role until summer.

Feels a little daft to fire him in the middle of the season (whilst we are still top of the league) and don't have any decent options as a replacement. This board really is shit.

This.

Utter stupidity.

It is not like the loss in the supercopa demi finals, which shouldn't even have existed had the federation not been so greedy for KSA money, is such a big problem. It was a nothing game in a nothing competition.

Sure Valverde was maybe not the man to lead Barça in the future but they created more turmoil by sacking him in the middle of the season without clear plan and successor. Amateurish.

Poch would not accept anything less than a two year contract. Setien probably would but I’m not sure how much of an improvement he’ll be over EV. For sure he doesn’t have the personality to break up the amigos. I’m afraid Xavi won’t either (if he comes in the summer as it seems to be the boards plan)

Allegri did offer himself. I would prefer him to Poch. So the main options are apparently Poch, Allegri and Serien. That's a pretty rare and competent pool considering it's mid-season.

My pick would be Allegri, he is a proven winner despite it being Serie A with Juventus, but compared to Poch who hasn't won anything or setien who probably doesn't even have a chance to win La Liga... stick him a 2.5 year contract. And let Xavi take over after some Barca B experience.

Setien is just about the only person who would except a short-term contract lets be honest. Poch and Koeman definitely wouldn't, It's obvious that Xavi is being lined up for the summer.

I think ideally in Bartomeu's world he would've liked Valverde to have been in charge until his term as president is over. Of course logic would've seen this done last summer but that's asking too much of Bartomeu.

Allegri plays even more boring football than Mourinho and was playing Dybala so badly out of position he was about to get sold.

Allegri is basically the opposite of Setien, a big improvement over Valverde in everything else, but not in the way he sets his teams up to play. While Setien has that going for him, but is an unknown in terms of managing big egos and stars. A combination of Setien's style and Allegri's big name and experience would've been perfect.
