TBH Lucho finally paid a price for not taking a better RB option and wasting the arguably most in-form midfielder of the past season on a wing. People like dunking on Garcia and Sarabia, but that there was the 2nd biggest issue which contributed to lack of goals which Llorente has provided this year

I am not sure they would even use that guy.

Del Bosque invented 460 without strikers and with 6 Iniestas/David Silvas to get 70-80% possession.

Father Pep also sold Etoo, Zlatan and Mandzukic.
To buy Jesus and play KDB/Foden/Sterling as false 9s and similar.

A huge part of domination of that style comes from a fluidity of 6 midfielders+attackers.
If you insert a No9 who is a killer, but less mobile or technical, you are losing possession.

For example, imagine Lukaku at Spain.
He would bring some goals but kill the flow, they would play with 10 men.

On the other hand Lucho picked goalscoring wise sterile Pedri, or so-so Olmo, yet he had Llorente as a fullback.
Even someone like Asensio might provide a goal or two.

But no, it is usually: all in on possession and on 6 David Silvas and inshallah and hope that one out of 10 chances from technical but sterile midfielders/attackers will somehow go in.

So, it is not such a simple statement as: Spain just needs clinical attackers.

Just lies all around. Either Moreno or Morata started all games this tournament except this one. Spain also played with both Torres and Villa in the starting 11 until they became shit, first Torres in 2010 and Villa in 2012.

Ferran Torres looks decent, but he's doesn't seem to be a forward, more of a winger.

Where do Insigne and Chiesa play? Italy is well shite apart from the GK and the washed up CBs

Insigne is a wing playmaker and Chiesa a winger. I meant players of the attacking third as forwards, not CFs. Immobile and Bellotti are their CFs and I am not sure they are much better than Morata and Moreno.

I was implying that they are playing in Serie A for some mediocre teams.

Guessed so. So we can invalidate your post saying you agree with him.

Dont think so.

Wasn't the same take.

Sure, but they still played a really good tournament and were the better team in all their games, they are not far off at all.

Being without a finisher with no finisher coming through the ranks isn't getting them any closer. Fati needs to kick a ball before he's even considered.

Pep on Ferran Torres : his first season in England and his numbers are exceptional. He came as a winger, but he has to think about (being) a striker. When Sergio, Gabriel were out, he was there. He scored against Leeds and Crystal Palace. He didn't have many minutes, but when he played, he had a sense of goal.
Yeah, he can be [a No 9]. We will use him, we used him and he was brilliant. His rhythm, especially defensively he has improved a lot. The game at Palace, he makes a turn [in his season] - so good. The movement he makes as a striker, for the [third] goal, it hits the bar and where it goes, he knew it.

"The smell, the strikers know, intuitively where it will arrive. He has this talent and the first goal is fantastic. Very pleased.

Maybe I have to think about how he can play as a striker because every time he plays in that position, he always has a real sense of goal. He is an incredible signing for us as a young player, he can play in three positions up front, but playing more central, he has an incredible sense of goal."

Chiesa plays for Juve though, they are shite lately but will bounce back. Insigne is Kane/Totti-like one club player, he would have moved ages ago if not for his love for the club.

One team of small, technical midgets beats another team of small, technical midgets.
Small, technical midgets cant be successful anymore
