I dont understand how they came up with "coming home" for the Euros, considering the world cup had actually been "home" once, Euros has never been "home" in the first place, so it makes no sense singing about it "coming home".

They say ''football is coming home''.. Like in them winning a World Cup or an Euro means divine justice, as they've invented the game. They may have invented it, but others were and still are much better than them at this game. Frustrated bigots. They know play like Inter cattenacio era reloaded, i physically puke when i watch their games. Unfortunately, all their cards are in their deck right now.

You are on full copium mode mate . You always talk of tiki-taka as of a style that is sterile and does does not generate any chances once the opponent figures it out, without a plan B. However, Spain dominated this tournament in chance creation and no opponent knew how to stop them from doing it. It was not sterile at all, not in a million years. It was quality possession-based attacking football. The absence of a top striker and left/right winger is what cost them. So just admit you do not like the style aesthetically instead of trying to rationalize your hard-on for 4-4-2.

2008 to 2012, Pep, Barca and Spain combined played 7 KO tournaments (Barca&Pep united 4 CLs, Spain NT 2008, 2010, 2012):
= they won 5 out 7 big KO tournaments on which they played

From September 2012 till today:
Pep played 8 CLs with Bayern and City
Barca played 9 CLs
Spain played as an NT in 2014, 2016, 2018, 2021

2008-2012=wins at 5 out of 7 tournaments
2012-2021=wins at 1 out of 21 tournaments with 1 more final reached

Makes you wonder whether all of this is a coincidence.
Or do some patterns and trends exist?

In 12 months the score will be 1 out of 24 titles won (after a CL and a World cup).

Extra time vs Croatia with 1 goal with Rebic changing boots, the 3rd goal when the whole Croatian team were drinking water.
Against Swiss, they won on penalties due to a stat that no team even has won 2 penalties on one Euros (and Swiss loss since they won against France).
And Spain paid the same price tonight against Italy.

90 minutes, 1 extra time, 2 penalty shootouts.

Out of curiosity, how did you rate Croatia in the knockout rounds in World Cup 2018?

You must have been absolutely disgusted to be in a World Cup final after two penalties wins and a win in extra time.

It is really not that difficult to understand.

The song was for the Euro 96 tournament in England.

They are singing about 'football coming home' to England at that Euros and from there a catchy tune have sung since at major tournaments.

Imagine thinking that peak Barcelona from 2009-2011 would have problems with the intensity of teams nowadays when the likes of grandpa Busquets, baby Pedri and "meh" Koke just ran circles around a relatively aggressive and intense team like Italy's. :koeman:

Since when Italy NT is a model of aggression? LOL

Some of you guys here are the epitome of "being biased"

Italy are basically known for their aggression, cynicism throughout their history. This tournament they've added other aspects of that old Catenaccio mentality with their great press and wanting to control possession when possible and play good football.

Before the match people talked how Italy's midfield would crush Spain's trio. In reality Spain's trio control and school them.

They are a team that plays with intensity, never said that they are the epitome of aggression but they play with pace, conviction and absolute determination and Spain made them look like fools for most of the match thanks to a sublime game of possesion.

That's how they are on a streak of 33 unbeaten matches.

It's a fun tournament anthem. Calm down. Half of the lyrics are about how bad England have been at the World Cup and Euros.

Frustrated bigots.

There's a chance that you're projecting.

Italy aggressive? Nah. They played soft today. Look at Colombia vs Argentina. That was tough game for real.

Colombians tough and strong.

You're welcome
Don't understand the "prefer to skip extension and go straight to penalties" comments. They are too nerve-wrecking. How many penalty shootouts one had to endure already if one is watching both Euro and Copa? Seven?
