Surprisingly England finished the stronger team. Why take off Rice for Henderson? It was Rices best game. Grealish on sooner for Mount. And penalty takers who have at least warmed up.
But well done for being a finalist.

Taking off Henderson and Walker just for the sake of letting Rashford and Sancho take a penalty might be the worst managerial decision I have ever seen in the history of football finals.

I mean WOW. I'm stunned.

Southgate and anyone who didn't take the last penalty deserve criticism for letting a 19-year-old be in that position.

Weird decision from Southgate to let him take it but maybe the rest of players didn't have the guts to take the pen? That's the other question.

The margins are so small between winning and losing a penalty shootout.

The weird comment was Southgate previous to the tournament saying the England side were well practised and well prepared for penalties. Presumebly these were his best takers?

Or perhaps he forgot his best takers?

In any case I think that England is a nation that won't react too badly to losing on penalties, because they are so used to it. And deep down love to play the gallant losers card and cling to it. Saka will be fine, they will probably build a statue for him in honour of almost scoring.
