This Euros started off so well but the way the R16 is looking, all the shitters on one side and the best teams Germany, Spain etc on the same side SUCKS. Rooting for an Austria-Spain/Germany final.

Club football is superior, can't understand putting international football higher.

It is now, it wasn't always.

I think it's because of the explosion of money in football, globalisation, the rise of the internet, the increasingly good coaching. All of this coalesces to help perfect club football. At international level players aren't as familiar with each other, resulting in lower quality games and disjointed football.

Club football isn't perfect however - the flip side of the above is the ever-increasing gap in quality between the best club sides and the middle-ranked and lower ones. This is why international football is interesting - it removes the advantages and familiarity players have at club level, and asks how they can do in more disjointed teams and outside of super teams (which results in stuff like the highest-ever CL goalscorer only having three goals in 19 knockout games in international tournaments).

Goes without saying club football is better quality but I think it's the festival of football feeling international tournaments brings that I love, especially the WC.
Yeah you just can't replicate that festival of football feeling, as well as the tradition and heritage of the World Cup. I just wrote a brief post about club vs international.

Not really, as some nations pretty much always have an inherent advantage, not that much unlike club sides.

Think Germany, France, Argentina, Brazil, Spain and maybe a couple of more.

France of the last few years, is a super team in actuality, even if they don't often play like one.

Maybe club football is superior most of the times in terms of quality, but nothing tops international football, especially World Cup atmosphere. Having your country there, let alone win it, is the best thing that you can achieve in football.

Yes that is true. But the likes of Best, Salah, Haaland, Bale, and Lewa will always be at a disadvantage at international level.

My point is that - for brilliant players from small countries - they can't just transfer to a top team. And yes France are a super team - but that is rare in international football these days. It's much harder to be a super team in int. football because you can't buy players to cover gaps or weaknesses. On the flip side everyone else can't either, so it's equal.

France have invested a lot over the decades to produce players. And even at that, I'd expect them to lose to the best club sides of the last 15 years.

Whats the use, if you are bored to tears from the actual games?

Come on, it's not all grim an dark. We had some good games and bad ones aswell. There's also emotions to international games, country rivalries etc. There are Champions Leagues games/finals that are a waste of time aswell, like the last 3 Champions League finals. So club football isn't the end all be all when it comes to this sport.

Yeah, but they also have themselves to blame. Losing 0-3 against Romania so their goal difference fucks them and Belgium gave them today two 100% chances to score a goal in the end of the game and they bottled both.

yeah just saw the highlights....but also a bit unlucky, the corner kick was brilliant :worthy:

Ukraine has a lot of decent and relatively young players so they will have their chances at the next 2-3 tournaments aswell.

Yeah the CL group stages are a snoozefest too, and that is with only two going through from the group rather than three. Then the round of 16 is often a strong team against a smaller second place team. Look at Man City hammering Leipzig for example.

Club football definitely has its problems too. Maybe the new Swiss system will make the CL groups look better but it's untested in European football.
