European Super League

Fortunately, I think, Barca are the least to take shit from this, because it was signed during Barto's presidency and Laporta can come out clean from this in a way. Also his "good, but not perfect" statement on ESL is helping, the only handicap being the Perez mention on him last night.

Laporta had final say on if Barca were part of it and called it wrong as much as anyone.

The Socios voting clause was always going to be in there and was before.

" Chelsea have only requested to leave and have prepared their legal team to attempt to do so. No club has officially left the ESL"

I am pretty sure Laporta gave the greenlight on this, regardless of what Bartomeu said and did.

Very poor handling by the club on this matter.

If the clause is real that the participation has to be ratified by the general assembly of the socios, then we're not in without their approval. But that's a technical side, on the image side, we look bad.

We should have done like Bayern.

Yeah, time for the daily Bartomeu minute of respectful silence.

"“I can announce some extraordinary news,” said Bartomeu. “Yesterday we accepted a proposal to participate in a future European Super League, which would guarantee the future financial sustainability of the club. And we’ve accepted the future CWC format.”

His statement was later criticised by La Liga president Javier Tebas, who described plans for a European Super League as “weak and imaginary” and declared it would bring ruin to clubs.

“Unfortunate @jmbartomeu statement on his last day about FCBarcelona joining a weak and imaginary competition which would be their ruin,” he wrote. “It confirms his ignorance about the football industry. Sad end for a president with successes and lately many mistakes.”"

True.

And from that standpoint, we can sue the ESL, because they announced us as founders before this clause was fullfiled.

 Sue the ESL, who will sue the clubs that want to leave unilaterally and sign Mbappe with the compensation. :worthy: Laporta.

Only if we didn't sign any official document and gave some sort of verbal wishy-washy "we need to wait for the socis to vote first" response. I doubt it.
